Grateful Dead House

greateful dead house, things to see in San Francisco, things to do in San Francisco, san francisco blogger

Robin loves the Grateful Dead. I’m pretty sure at one point he told me he was considering getting one of those colorful dancing bears tattooed on his chest and I told him I hated that idea. Nothing is sexy about that. Anyways, we haven’t done much exploring of the Haight/Ashbury neighborhood much even though we live just one neighborhood away. So, on a sunny afternoon this week, we headed over to 710 Ashbury Street to see the famous purple Grateful Dead House. Robin was beyond excited.

The Grateful Dead house is famous not only because the band members lived there in the 60’s, but because this is where the drug bust of 1967 went down. (Basically the police raided the place over a pound of pot and helped put this house on the map of places to see in San Francisco.) But, before we stopped by the house, I required a visit to Ben & Jerry’s, just 2 blocks down on Haight Street. Mama needed some Cherry Garcia!  Only appropriate for visiting the namesake’s former house. Robin had fun looking at it and playing Grateful Dead tunes on his phone and I had fun shoving this ice cream in mouth before it melted. Wasn’t easy, but I did it guys!Grateful Dead House San FranciscoGrateful Dead House San FranciscoGrateful Dead House San FranciscoGrateful Dead House San Francisco

I’ve been wearing these culottes non-stop. I picked up them from Forever21 a few weeks ago and am in love with the pattern. In order to not be to “loud” I paired it with a simple black tee, sandal heels from Target, a spiky gold necklace from Rocksbox and, my favorite part, this sweet fringe armlet from Crafturday. My friend Vanessa founded Crafturday and makes all things fringe. If you’re heading to any more music festivals this summer ( like Outside Lands happening here in San Francisco!), I highly suggest getting some fringe from her. Even if you aren’t going to festivals, her fringe is amazing to anyways! She has sweet armlets, anklets, chokers and headpieces. I’ve linked some of my favorite below along with what I’m wearing.

So that’s it – the Grateful Dead house. I love how much history is in San Francisco. I wonder what other pieces of history we’ll stumble upon here in the city… any suggestions?

I’ve never heard of the Grateful Dead House… I would’ve just thought it’s another beautiful Victorian in the area.

    Btw, those culottes are amazing.
