Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers – probably because yellow is my favorite color! But also because they’re in season during late summer/early fall, which is, in my opinion, the best time of the year. Back at home in Wisconsin/Minnesota, August is hot hot hot, but less humid and by the end of it you can feel fall coming. This is my first August in San Francisco, and so far it seems like summer has just started. The days are warmer and there’s a bit less fog. Not today though – there’s a photo in this post where the sky is white and that is 100% what it looks like here half the time.
Thank goodness that even if the sky is boring and white, fun pops of color like this amazing Nutcracker dress from Shabby Apple exists. The second I tried this baby on I had to twirl and Robin told me I looked like a princess. Cue hair flip. This same dress also comes in pink and green which are both great pops of color. What I love most about this dress is that the skirt part puffs out to create an awesome silhouette, and the bows on the sleeves are really cute!
My outfits are either mostly black and neutrals, or really bold and bright. As I’m adjusting to life in San Francisco, I find myself wearing more and more bright colors. I think it’s to mentally battle against fog and gloomy days. I’m probably going to have to arm myself with more Shabby Apple dresses (they’re all so cute!) to make it through the upcoming winter…

The color blue looks great on you! This is my favorite time of the year and I love how the temperatures are a lot more pleasant than in those super hot summer days. When I went to San Fran last September the sky was white half the time but thankfully there were some sunny days too.

Thanks Monika! SF is always foggy so it’s awesome when there is sun! 🙂
