Troubled skin is incredibly difficult to remedy and even more expensive to upkeep. When pimples don’t disappear and acne scars remain, the list of skincare products in your daily regimen can continue to grow with no end in sight.
That’s why I was so intrigued to hear about Versed Skin, a skincare line that focuses on creating clean ingredient products at a fraction of the price of high-end brands. Versed is known for products like their Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum and Doctor’s Visit Instant Resurfacing Mask.
I struggled with breakouts in my teenage years and wished I had a dependable brand that was able to clear my sensitive skin without spending an unreasonable amount of money and time. My skin has been fairly clear within the past few years with occasional hormonal breakouts.
However, as I grow older, my skin needs more love and care when I do have those problem days. I’m hoping that Versed will be that brand that I can continuously go back to when I’m looking to restock my daily serums or need a pick me up.
What is Versed Skin?
Versed Skin, founded in 2018 by Katherine Powers, is an affordable skincare brand that focuses on clean high-quality ingredients that are made with environmentally friendly packaging.
All of the products are under $25 and are vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, and dye-free. They also claim to be free of parabens, silicones, sulfates, formaldehyde, petroleum, and mineral oil.
Versed Skin Products
Versed has products that are suitable for your face and body. You can shop products by concerns you may have of your skin, such as acne-prone, dryness, aging, and dullness.
If you’re looking for specific skincare products, you can also shop by types of serums, face masks, moisturizers, cleansers, and more. To be even more specific, you can shop by type of ingredient in products, such as hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, lactic acid, retinol, or salicylic acid.
What you need depends on your skin type, there’s so many skin types. We’re all unique! If you’re unsure of what skin type you have, you can take the skin decoder quiz on their website that will take into consideration of different life factors like age, pregnancy, environment, and hours of sleep.
Versed will then calculate your answers to recommend you products that best suit your current skin condition and skin goals.
I picked uneven skin tone and dark spots as my current skin condition on the quiz and I was given five product recommendations that tackle those problems. If you add three items in your cart, you can save with a 10% discount.
Versed Acne Treatment Review: My Experience with 4 Versed Skin Products
I will be testing out four Versed products: the Find Clarity Purifying Mask, Out of Sight Dark Spot Gel, Game Over Acne Drying Treatment, and Recovery Mode Advanced Night Cream. The products will be rated on a five star scale based on effectiveness against trouble spots, price, ingredients, and packaging.
Versed Find Clarity Purifying Mask
Retails For: $16 on Amazon | Made For: Clogged pores
Application: Apply an even layer to clean, dry skin. Leave on for 15 minutes, and then rinse with cool water. Apply 1-3 times a week, AM or PM.
Thoughts: I immediately noticed that the formula is incredibly smooth and creamy with an almost lotion-like consistency. I’ve used many clay masks before, and this is by far the lightest in terms of texture. The mask dried in the 15 minutes I waited until rinsing off per instructions. My skin came out looking soft and replenished without that stripped, tight feeling that many cleansers leave.
I also appreciate that the packaging that the mask comes in is resealable. Many clay masks that come in plastic bags such as this one are for one time use, but one package of this could last you multiple uses. Easy to use and moisturizing, this mask is going to become part of my weekly routine.
Versed Out of Sight Dark Spot Gel
Safe, hydroquinone-free treatment for hyperpigmentation. The combination of antioxidants (kojic acid and licorice root extract) and skin-brighteners (tranexamic acid and niacinamide) visibly fade discoloration sans irritation.
Retails For: $14.29 at Target | Made For: Stubborn dark spots (new or old)
Application: Spot-treat targeted areas with a thin layer on clean, dry skin. Let it sink in for 2-3 minutes before layering any other skincare products. Store in a cool, dark place, like your fridge. Apply to dark spots and areas of hyperpigmentation during AM and PM after cleansing (and toning). When applying serums and/or moisturizer over the gel, use a gentle patting motion.
Thoughts: Dark spot serums are so difficult to gauge in terms of effectiveness because they take weeks, if not months, of continual usage to see any results. I appreciated the lightness of the serum and how easily it soaked into the skin.
After one use, my dark spots don’t look any lighter, as expected, but I’m hopeful that within a month there will be a noticeable difference.
Versed Game Over Acne Drying Treatment
Made For: Pimples that hit the surface of the skin | Star Rating: 4/5
This acne drying lotion contains 10% sulfur, which treats and prevents blemishes by absorbing excess oil and exfoliating away dead cells without stripping the skin. Together with kaolin and bentonite clay, this acne spot cream stays put – no messy cotton swabs or runny liquids necessary.

Application: Cover whiteheads or soon-to-be whiteheads with a visible layer of cream during PM.
Thoughts: The drying lotion reminds me of the Mario Badescu drying lotion, which was both loved and hated by the masses. Now that I’ve had my experience with both products, I will say that drying lotions can be a bit gimmicky in the sense that they only work on pimples that are about the pop.
It is not beneficial for cystic acne and would only dry out the skin without removing the puss. The packaging does note that it is only for pimples that hit the surface of the skin, so for that I would rate this product highly for not misleading customers. It also doesn’t need any cotton swabs unlike the Mario Badescu drying lotion, supporting a mess-free experience.
Versed Recovery Mode Advanced Night Cream
Made For: Softening signs of aging, strengthen moisture barrier, and see smooth, radiant skin | Star Rating: 4.5/5
Cell-renewing cream that energizes tired complexions. Non-greasy formula visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and rough, crepey skin

Application: Gently press down to release a dime-size amount of cream. Warm it between fingertips and smooth into skin using upward motions. Apply to face during PM after cleaning and applying serums
Thoughts: The lotion is a good balance between being light-weight yet moisturizing. The formula is creamy and quickly soaks into the skin. I also didn’t notice a greasy film, which is important for avoiding breakouts when sleeping. I’m indifferent to the pump mechanism used in the packaging, but could see how some users enjoy the ease of usage.
Final Verdict
I love how you can actually read the ingredient list on the back of Versed products and understand exactly what is going inside. My favorite products were the Find Clarity Purifying Mask and Recovery Mode Advanced Night Cream, both of which are joining my daily skincare routine.
Versed Skin reminds me of another affordable skincare line, The Ordinary, which I am a big fan of. It’s comforting to know that there are still brands out there that care about the quality of ingredients in their products and are making them affordable for everyone.
