Robin and I both grew up in Wisconsin in the Madison area.
I get asked this all the time and the answer isn't very exciting. Basically, I knew I wanted to move away from Minneapolis where I was still living after college and I knew I wanted to be on one of the coasts. As a teen, I was dead set on living in NYC (I almost even went to college there), but the idea of more winters made me think of California. So, I asked Robin which he liked better: LA or San Francisco.
San Francisco is in a micro-climate, so it usually is in the 60's or low 70's year round. The winter can bring a lot of rain and our summers are colder - it usually is foggy every day and in the low 60's or high 50's. On top of this, each neighborhood can vary by 10 degrees (seriously) so make sure to bring layers for your trip and comfy shoes to walk up and down hills in!

We had just moved to San Francisco and I didn't know anyone. I was also searching for my first job out of college. I knew I wanted to work in social media, but I was finding it hard to prove to companies that I would be a great hire without any proof of content creation or social media management. So, I started Whimsy Soul but within a few weeks, it became my passion project and now, my fulltime job.
Yes! After three years of hard work, I was finally able to take the leap to blog full time. It's a lot of work and I'm lucky that Robin, my husband, is my business partner. There's too much to do for just one person!
I make most of my money through brand partnerships. I only work with companies that I really love or think you (the reader) will love to learn about. I turn down partnerships almost every day because they aren't good fits. I also make some money through commission on affiliate links through social media and this website.
I use Lightroom and VSCO presets to edit all my photos.
Beauty + Personal Style
As I'm sure you know, sizes vary across stores and types of clothing. That being said, I usually wear a size Large or 10 on top and bottom. Sometimes I wear an 8, sometimes a 12. For shoes, I wear a size 9.
I use box dye! Everyone thinks I'm a natural redhead, but my natural color is a dirty blonde. After moving to San Francisco I needed a change, so I went red and haven't looked back since.
We met while working at a summer camp in Wisconsin back in 2011. We started dating that summer and did long distance for a few years as I went to school in Minneapolis and Robin still lived in Madison. After college we moved to San Francisco together and got marrie
d in 2017.
