As a curvy girl at size 14, I’ve always really struggled to find activewear that’s cute, colorful and actually built to fit my body type.
If you always have big ole thighs that rub together when you walk, you know how quickly that fabric on leggings can wear thin. Activewear brands also tend now to offer products in extended sizes, or in cute designs that I actually want wear.
So, when I discovered Popflex via Taylor Swift’s viral lavender skirt, I had to try the brand out for myself for an honest Popflex review. This is my honest Popflex activewear review after testing their leggings, sports bras, and workout sets.
No, Taylor Swift and I do not have the same body type at all, but the Popflex Pirouette Skirt felt new and refreshing on the activewear scene. It made me want to learn more.
Our Whimsy Editor, Taylor, ended up trying the viral skirt and had a great experience. I opted to try a matching activewear set and a sports bra to test out. And, I think I’m in love.
Popflex First Impressions: The Fabric Is Thin, But Breathable
I opened up my first Popflex order and pulled out my Crisscross Hourglass Leggings with Pockets and Call Me Baby Reversible Tee. My first thought?
Dear lord, this fabric is THIN.
Much thinner fabric than my Girlfriend Collective activewear sets. Typically, thin fabric hugs my curves in all the wrong ways highlights every inch and crevice that doesn’t need to be on display. So I was skeptical, but from the first time I pulled my Popflex set on, I was hooked.
Yes, the fabric is thin (borderline too thin, to be honest, but it works). Plus, it’s way more breathable compared to other leggings and workout sets I own. Swamp cr0tch? Don’t know her in this Popflex set.
The Leggings Pockets Are Deep So My Phone Can’t Fall Out
Three cheers for good pockets, right? To test drive my new activewear set, Robin and I headed to the beach to grab coffee and take a walk. Sometimes, pockets on leggings are so shallow I can’t put my phone or even wallet in them, but Popflex pockets are nice and deep!
My phone didn’t fall out of my pocket on my walk once. I don’t feel like reviews always highlight pockets the way I like them so I wanted to call that out.
Popflex Has Tons Of Mix And Match Sets To Build Your Perfect Workout Outfit
What I’m loving about Popflex activewear is their entire line is available in the same colors, which means you can mix and match pieces to build your perfect workout outfit in the same shade.
I got my leggings and matching tee in the Pistachio color, but they also offer items like their famous Zip Cloud Hoodie in all the same shades. I love a monochromatic set.
Popflex Has Inclusive Sizing Up To 3x
Oh, and everything is offered in the same sizing range, XXS-3X. One of my biggest pet peeves is when a business offers only a few times in extended sizing, leaving the good stuff to the traditional thin girls and leaving the boring, blah or straight-up ugly pieces to midsize and plus size women.
Not here! Popflex makes sure to be inclusive all around. They even offered leggings in different lengths so short girls and tall girls can all find their perfect pair of leggings. I’m on the short side and love cropped anything.
Oh, and no fat tax prices here. A XS cost the same as the 3X. Snaps for inclusivity! A lot of the Popflex leggings reviews I’ve found are from thin size small women, so I wanted to share a review from a curvy woman’s point of view and I’m just really happy they have inclusive sizing.
Popflex Sizing Is Accurate, Too
Feel free to buy your normal size, Popflex has accurate sizing charts! I wear a size 14 and found their Large and XL to fit perfectly. No need to size up or down drastically here.
As A Curvy Woman, I Love Popflex Activewear For Inclusive Sizing, Trendy Style, And Fabric That Works For Me
So, is Popflex worth it? Yes! I feel like I often see people online ask “why is Popflex so expensive?” but the answer really is: you get what you pay for.
Popflex is founded by Cassey Ho, the woman behind the viral YouTube channel Blogilates. According to their site, Popflex “is focused on creating innovative products to solve problems” and they took that motto to heart.
The materials and cuts are built by women and made for women. The styles aren’t just trendy, but built to work hard to fit our bodies. They made leggings that are anti-cameltoe and squat proof and have great pockets and also make our booties look good.
They built sports bras with nip protection layers and option removal pads and styles that range from purely functional to good enough for a hiking date to impress.
This size 14 gal is impressed and while this is my first time shopping POPFLEX, it won’t be my last. I have my eyes on those Supershort Runsie which I think will be so cute for summer hikes and workouts.
If you are on the fence about buying from Popflex, I say do it.
Frequently Asked Questions About Popflex by Blogilates
Is Popflex Ethical?
Popflex can be considered slow fashion since items you see on their store today will still be in stock a year from now. In fact, they have a whole sustainability statement and initiative stating they “design and produce slowly and thoughtfully because we are conscious about reducing waste”.
When developing products, they spend a lot of time testing to make sure the style is something consumers want before they mass produce it. They even created something called “P♻PCYCLE” where customers and sell pre-loved Popflex pieces to help reuse and keep items out of landfills.
They even make their bags out of fermented corn starch called Polylactic acid which takes 60% less energy than plastic.
The actual clothing isn’t made out of recycled materials, like some items at Girlfriend are, but from everything I can tell, Popflex is ethical and can be considered slow fashion. It needs more work to be considered fully sustainable, but it’s on the right track.
What is Popflex Return process?
Popflex has a standard return policy of 30 days for unused items. You can also exchange anything in that 30 day time period. They have an easy return process, too.
What Are Popflex Pros And Cons?
After wearing Popflex activewear for over a year, here are my honest pros and cons.
Popflex Pros
- Inclusive sizing from XXS to 3X, which is still surprisingly rare in activewear brands
- Cute, colorful designs that feel more stylish than typical gym clothes
- Popflex leggings have deep pockets that actually hold my phone securely
- Lightweight breathable fabric that works great for walks, workouts, and everyday wear
- Mix-and-match color collections so you can build matching workout sets
- Flattering cuts designed for women’s bodies, including anti-cameltoe seams and booty-enhancing fits
- Leggings available in different lengths for short and tall women

Popflex Cons
- Fabric is thinner than some compression-style activewear brands like Girlfriend Collective which I like but some people don’t
- Prices are higher than fast fashion workout brands
- Some popular items sell out quickly due to demand
- The lightweight fabric may not feel supportive enough for very high-impact workouts for some people
Popflex Activewear Review After 12 Months
It’s been about a year since I first wrote this Popflex review, so I wanted to add a real long-term update after wearing these pieces regularly.
Short version? My Popflex activewear still looks almost brand new.
I wear my Popflex leggings and workout sets about four times a week for walks, workouts, and general everyday errands, and the fabric has held up way better than I expected. No thinning spots between the thighs, no stretched out waistbands, and no weird pilling after washing.
Honestly, I was originally worried about the thinner fabric when I first opened my order. Compared to brands like Girlfriend Collective, Popflex leggings feel lighter and more breathable. But after a full year of wearing them constantly, I can confidently say the quality has impressed me.
The color has stayed vibrant, the seams are still intact, and the pockets are still just as sturdy for holding my phone. Compared to Lululemon and Girlfriend Collective, Popflex leggings feel lighter and more breathable.
I’ve actually ended up buying a few more Popflex pieces since writing this review because I reach for these sets so often. They’re comfortable, flattering for my curvy size 14 body, and still some of the cutest activewear I own.
If you’re wondering is Popflex worth it long term, my answer is still yes. After twelve months of heavy wear, my Popflex leggings and workout sets still feel great, look great, and I absolutely still recommend the brand.

Thanks for sharing such a detailed and honest review! It’s great to hear a curvy perspective on Popflex, especially when so many activewear reviews tend to focus on smaller sizes. The inclusivity in sizing, trendy styles, and thoughtful design (deep pockets—yes, please!) make it sound like a brand worth trying.
