The Green Goo First Aid travel pack has quickly become my favorite thing to tuck into my travel toiletry bag and purse. As a travel blogger, my husband and I are ALWAYS on the go.
I have eczema and naturally dry skin, so I’m one of those people who absolutely need to carry around lotion or I go crazy. I’m also one of those people who always seem to injure myself. I have so many tiny cuts, scrapes, bug bites and bruises on my body. (Some of these, I blame on my kitten who hasn’t yet figured out that hands are not toys!)
My husband and I just came off of a 9-day campervan trip and since we were really limited on space, I knew I couldn’t bring along a lot of skin care items or a large first aid kit like I would normally do on trips. I randomly grabbed my Green Goo tins on a whim, thinking “hey, these are small and may come in handy.”
Understatement of the year!
Sierra Sage Green Goo First Aid Review
Before this trip, I’ve already been using the Green Goo Dry Skin tin (part of the first aid green goo pack you can shop on Amazon here.) I liked how it’s a natural salve that’s small enough to fit into any of my purses, but also powerful.
Turns out, the whole first aid salve series are equally as effective!
Green Goo products are based in organic oils, sage herbs, beeswax and essential oils, among other natural ingredients. I don’t believe they have a USDA Certified Organic label, but they are the most natural (and most effective) first aid product I’ve found out there.
The tins I brought on my trip are:
Green Goo First Aid
The First Aid salve is made to be a homeopathic formula that helps promote the body’s own healing abilities. It’s intended to replace Neosporin, Hydrocortisone, Calamine for Poison Ivy and any anti-itch, anti-fungal cream. Green Goo First Aid large tin is just $15, so you’re bound to save money on other first aid products!
I personally used this for cuts I got on my hands and within a few days, I noticed they were almost healed up. I was shocked!
Ingredients: Organic Olive Oil, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Plantain, Organic Chickweed, Organic Yarrow, Organic Sage, Organic Calendula, Organic St. John’s Wort, Organic Comfrey Leaf, Gum Benzoin, Myrrh, Organic Chaparral, Vitamin E Oil, Organic Beeswax, and Essential Oils of Lavender and Rosemary.
Green Goo Dry Skin
My Dry Skin tin is almost gone (cue a reorder on Amazon!) I have sensitive skin so I can’t use any ole lotion, especailly ones chalked with scents and chemicals like a lot of mainstream lotions are. It’s mostly made of Calendula flowers to help heal rashes, eczema bumps and overall dry skin.
I kept this in front of our campervan to use whenever my hands were dry. Worked like a charm, didn’t get on my clothing and didn’t make my food taste bad when I cooked after using. Use it for:
- Cracked hands and feet
- Dry face, knees, and elbows
- Dry red bumps
- Eczema and psoriasis
- Rashes (razor, yeast, and fungal)
Ingredients: Organic Olive Oil, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Calendula Flowers, Organic Chamomile Flowers, Organic Elder Flowers, Organic Yarrow Flowers, Organic Violet Flowers, Organic Red Clover Flowers, Vitamin E Oil, Organic Beeswax, and Essential Oil of Lavender.
Green Goo Pain Relief
I won’t lie, I didn’t think a natural pain relief salve would actually work. But, we were camping and I got tons of bug bites. On top of itching, they sometimes hurt. I used a combo of the first aid salve and the Pain Relief to make them stop hurting and promote healing quickly.
The Pain Relief balm uses mostly Arnica, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Use it to relieve pain associated with:
- Arthritis
- Sore muscles
- Sprains and strains
- Bumps and bruises
- Injuries
- Bug bites and topical pain
Ingredients: Organic Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Organic Cera Alba (Beeswax), Organic Helianthus Anuuss (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Organic Arnica Montana Flower, Organic Menthol, Mentha Pipperita (Peppermint) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark Oil.
Green Goo Skin Repair
The Green Goo First Aid travel pack does come with a Skin Repair tin as well, I just couldn’t find my tin which is why I didn’t bring it on my camping trip, but it is part of the packs!
I do have the Green Goo Skin Repair stick, which was seriously like witch magic during our trip to Maui a few months ago. I’m a pale ginger, so I get burnt easily. I put it on my face each day as part of my skincare routine and for one of the first times in my life, my red face turned into a glowing tan instead of a harsh burn.
Use it for:
- Wrinkles and puffy eyes
- Night eye cream
- Aging and sunspots
- Sun damaged skin
- And as an after-sun care
Ingredients: Organic Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Organic Cera Alba (Beeswax), Organic Helianthus Anuuss (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Organic Arnica Montana Flower, Organic Menthol, Mentha Pipperita (Peppermint) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark Oil.
There are more products in the Green Goo line that I need to try next!
- Green Goo Solar Goo (made with 30 SPF sunblock!)
- Green Goo Tattoo Care (a natural way to care for your new ink)
- Green Goo Poison Ivy (made especially for poison ivy rashes)
- Green Goo Animal Care (for all the cuts, scrapes and bites your pets get)
- Green Goo Cold Sore (not just cold sores but all blisters)
- Green Goo Hand Goo (not sure how this is different from Dry Skin)
- Green Goo Foot Care (for athlete’s foot, fungus, dry heels)
I haven’t encountered anything major yet – like poison oak, etc, so I can’t personally attest to the effectiveness of the First Aid tin against serious rashes. But, I read a lot of positive green goo poison ivy reviews so I’m assuming that specific tin and the First Aid one are a great natural treatment for plant-based skin problems!
If you don’t like the idea of tins, many of the products also come in sticks (like the Green Goo first Aid Stick, which would probably be easier to use on little ones quickly.)
Definitely includes Green Goo amongst your camping gear, and also keep it in stock at home. I think you’ll really like them! You can usually find great deals on Amazon or even directly on the Green Goo website.
Have you used Green Goo before? Would love to hear your thoughts!

I absolutely ADORE the whole Green Goo line and was so glad to see your review! I have eczema around one of my ankles and this keeps it at bay and is such a soothing relief.
In the summer I occasionally get under-boob irritation due to pesky underwires rubbing and being a general pain and I had never thought until recently to use some of the first aid on that irritation just out of the shower and before bed. It has worked incredibly well and I am kicking myself for not trying it sooner. It also did wonders when I had an accidental bite from our pet snake (very small snake and tiny bites). The next day you could hardly see where the bite had been, granted, the bite was small, but it was great and it felt better than rubbing on a petroleum based ointment which always makes me feel like my skin is attracting more dirt than helping.
I would love to try Green Goo but I can’t get the tin open.
