There are so many hidden treasures in San Francisco. Land’s End and the Sutro Baths are my favorite gems. Robin and I love hiking the area during weekend mornings – it’s always a bit chilly by the ocean and usually the fog is still hanging around, making a peaceful, serene way to welcome the Spring day.
This past weekend we woke up and decided to head here to the Sutro Baths. Once actually standing buildings, the baths are now ruins by the sea, something totally unique to San Francisco. The top of the hill sits a large hiking area with winding trails, lush grass and booming redwoods. Take the upper steps leading down to the beach for a stunning aerial view of the baths, as well as the Golden Gate Bridge poking out behind the hillside.

Robin has a hard time waking up in the mornings, so I grabbed our to-go mug of coffee and we headed out to Land’s End early. That’s the best time to visit because the parking lot is small and fills up fast around noon! Though, I’ve been here during the sunset and it’s just stunning on a clear night, so sometimes parking a few blocks away and walking down is worth it. Because it’s always a bit breezy and chilly down by the ocean during Spring, for this morning walk I wore my softness of sweaters by Orvis. It’s one of those sweaters that I can’t help but pet when I wear it. It’s a cowl neck/ off-the-shoulder sweater, making it perfect for walks like this – when I get warmer, I can pull the sweater down to cool off. I paired it with my Orvis trench coat, which is light and the ideal coat for Spring days.
If you’re looking for outdoor wear this year, check out Orvis! I’ll be hitting them up again this fall when Robin and I are camping in Yosemite.
I love the weathered look of the ruins and climbing around on them is what I consider an adult playground. The ruins collect water, creating make-shift tidal pools, so it’s fun to peer into them as you’re walking about. It’s also nice to just sit down, face the ocean and watch the waves come in and out. There’s something so magical feeling about the Sutro Baths, probably because there aren’t many places like this open to the public in the United States.
