I’m a candle goblin. I fully embrace that. I have candles burning at all times, and I’ve been eyeing Snif candles for a long time before finally adding to my cart. This Snif candle review has been a long time coming.
I finally tried them, and have been burning their candles for a couple months now, and I have thoughts.
Are Snif Candles Worth The Price?
Snif candles are not cheap. The 8.5 oz size is $46. The small 6 oz is $34. The large 50 oz is $129. You can absolutely grab an amazing 10 oz candle at Target or Trader Joe’s for six dollars, so yes, we need to talk about whether spending this much actually makes sense.
And it depends on what you care about.
What won me over wasn’t just the smell (though the smell is incredible, more on that in a second). It was the ingredient list. Snif candles are made with premium soy wax, 100% cotton fiber wicks, and high-quality fragrance oil. They’re vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, phthalate-free, and preservative-free. I have a cat that I want to live forever and I’m conscious about what I’m breathing in all day, so that stuff matters to me more than it used to.
These pass the sniff test (sorry, had to) on the clean beauty front. They’re Conscious Beauty certified, which means no sketchy chemicals doing laps through your lungs while you’re just trying to relax.
The burn quality also impressed me in a way I didn’t expect. You know how some candles just… tunnel? They burn straight down the middle and the wax around the edges never melts and it’s both wasteful and annoying?
That did not happen here. I did the first burn correctly (3 to 4 hours so the whole top layer melts evenly) and it went edge to edge, clean. The 8.5 oz size is rated for 50+ hours of burn time, and I’ve been burning mine a lot. I still have at least half left after a couple months of regular use. That changes the math a little on the price-per-hour front.
So. Worth it if you care about clean ingredients, a quality burn, and a scent that actually fills a room. Skip it if you’re looking for a budget candle and don’t mind synthetic fragrance. Both are valid.
Snif Big Flirt Candle Review
The Big Flirt candle was the first one I tried and honestly the one that made me understand the hype.
The official notes are wild strawberry, champagne, chocolate ganache, jasmine sambac, vanilla milk, and patchouli gayo. On paper that sounds like a lot. In the actual jar it smells like chocolate covered strawberries in the best possible way.
Rich, a little sweet, a tiny bit floral underneath. I bought this around Valentine’s Day and it smells like you walked into a sexy hotel suite that someone lined with roses right before a very fun evening.
And I have a high standard for a hotel candle. Check out my Hotel Lobby Candle Review to read why.
It’s classified as gourmand, floral, and fruity and that tracks. The chocolate ganache and vanilla milk do most of the heavy lifting on the scent. The champagne adds a little brightness so it doesn’t go full dessert.
It’s playful without being overwhelming and it throws really well, meaning it actually scents the room rather than just smelling good if you hold it directly under your nose (a real problem with some candles at this price point, real talk).
The 8.5 oz is $46 and that’s the size I got. If you want to try it before committing, the 6 oz at $34 is a reasonable way to see if you like it.
Snif Guilty Pleasure Candle Review
The Guilty Pleasure candle is lighter, pinker, and fully giving French bakery energy.
The notes are fresh raspberry, whipped meringue, almond cake, cherry blossom, powdered sugar, and vanilla bean butter. What it actually smells like to me is a raspberry macaron someone made really, really well.
There’s that almond-vanilla bakery warmth underneath the fruit and it just smells clean and happy and expensive. Not as moody as Big Flirt. More like a Saturday morning than a Saturday night.
I liked this one slightly less than Big Flirt just because chocolate covered strawberries will always win for me personally, but the burn quality was identical and the scent throw was great.
If you’re more of a light florals and pastry person than a rich chocolate person, Guilty Pleasure might actually be your one.
Snif also sells these two together as the Sweet Talkers Bundle, which is a solid move if you want both without dealing with separate orders. They deliver fast too, so you won’t be waiting months to get your hands on these.
The Jars Are Actually Cute
This sounds like a small thing but I want to mention it because it factored into how I feel about the price.
The candles come in really pretty ribbed glass jars with nice little lids. When these burn down I want to keep them. Maybe for cotton balls, maybe jewelry, maybe a tiny planter, I haven’t fully decided yet. But I like that I’m not just throwing a $46 candle jar in recycling when it’s done. The packaging feels considered, not just like an afterthought.
Pro-tip: the jars also make great body care storage. I’m thinking cotton rounds or a small stash of hair pins. The lid keeps everything tidy.
Other Snif Candle Scents Worth Knowing About
I haven’t personally tried these yet but they’re next on my list and they come up constantly when people talk about Snif.
The Sweet Ash candle is a woodier, more ambery scent with juniper, bergamot, vanilla bean, fir balsam, tonka bean, and white moss. If Big Flirt is the life of the party, Sweet Ash is the mysterious one in the corner who smells incredible and says very little. It’s based on their best-selling fragrance and I’ve heard it gets compliments constantly.
The Mornings at Levain candle is a collab with Levain Bakery, which if you’ve never been to a Levain location in New York you need to put it on your list immediately because their Chocolate Chip Walnut cookie is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. This candle is supposed to smell like walking into the bakery, with sea salt, cookie accord, chopped walnuts, and fluffy musk. I mean. I need this one in my life.
Snif also has a secret menu with limited and special release scents that rotate, so if you’re a collector type it’s worth checking back regularly or joining Snif Society so you don’t miss drops.
Is Snif a Legit Brand?
Yes, fully. Snif was founded in October 2020 by Bryan Edwards and Phil Riportella, two guys who were both frustrated by the overcomplicated, overpriced, jargon-heavy fragrance industry. The brand works with a world-renowned fragrance house and uses ethically-sourced raw materials.
They also have a full fragrance line beyond candles including fine fragrance, b
ody products, and laundry. Based on how good the candle scents are I’d be curious about their perfumes, though I haven’t tested those personally so I’m not going to speak to them here.
You can also join the Snif Society, which is their loyalty and ambassador community. You don’t have to be a content creator to join. If you love the brand and want early access to new releases, free shipping perks, and the ability to earn rewards, it’s worth looking into.
Oh, and if you want your whole home smelling good on autopilot, I also use the Pura 4 smart diffuser in our bedroom. It’s set to turn on automatically every morning so we wake up to a great-smelling house. Different vibe than a candle but equally obsessed-with-it energy.
Snif Candles FAQ
How long do Snif candles burn?
The 6 oz candles are rated for 35+ hours of burn time. The 8.5 oz candles are rated for 50+ hours. The large 50 oz candles are rated for 200+ hours.
In my experience burning the 8.5 oz size regularly over a couple of months, that 50-hour estimate tracks. I still have plenty of life left in mine.
Are Snif candles clean?
Yes. Snif candles are made with premium soy wax and 100% cotton fiber wicks. They’re free of parabens, phthalates, and preservatives. They’re also vegan and cruelty-free and carry the Conscious Beauty clean certification.
What does Big Flirt smell like?
Big Flirt smells like chocolate covered strawberries with a little champagne brightness and a soft floral undertone. It’s rich and a little sexy without being overwhelming.
The official notes are wild strawberry, champagne, chocolate ganache, jasmine sambac, vanilla milk, and patchouli gayo.
What does Guilty Pleasure smell like?
Guilty Pleasure smells like a really good raspberry macaron. Fresh raspberry on top, almond cake and vanilla bean butter underneath, with a powdered sugar softness throughout. It’s lighter and more bakery-forward than Big Flirt.
Does Snif have a secret menu?
Yes! Snif has a secret menu with limited and rotating scents that aren’t always listed on the main site. It’s worth checking their website directly or following along with Snif Society to catch those drops before they sell out.
Are Snif candles worth it?
If you care about clean ingredients and a quality burn, yes. The price is real ($34 to $46 for the smaller sizes) but the burn time is long, the soy wax burns cleanly and evenly, and the scents are actually good in a way that cheaper candles usually aren’t.
It’s a treat, not an everyday drugstore swap.
Where can I buy Snif candles and do they deliver?
You can shop and order for delivery directly through their website. They deliver to your door and shipping is fast. Individual scents include Big Flirt, Guilty Pleasure, Sweet Ash, and Mornings at Levain. If you want Big Flirt and Guilty Pleasure together, the Sweet Talkers Bundle is the move.
Honestly, $46 for a candle is hard to justify on paper. But I’ve burned both of these down significantly and I’d buy them again. The clean formula matters to me, the burn quality is legitimately good, and Big Flirt makes my living room smell like a dream. If you try one, start with Big Flirt. You can thank me later.
