Russian River is my favorite wine tasting region in Northern California. I love how the Healdsburg and Russian River area is just a little quieter than neighboring Napa Valley, so we find ourselves up this way a lot. The Farmhouse Inn has been on my radar for a while now and finally this summer, we got to visit!
Tucked on the outskirts of Forestville is The Farmhouse Inn. It’s out in the country, in a place that’s secluded yet at the same time, accessible to the region’s wineries. As you roll up the driveway, you’ll spot yellow buildings peaking out between the trees and flowers. A valet will probably help load your luggage out and park your car: relaxation oozes from every corner of The Farmhouse Inn. As a self-proclaimed crazy cat lady, I was also delighted to learn that hotel cats roam the property. The wifi password is even named after one of them!
The room at The Farmhouse Inn are what really makes this hotel standout. We stayed in a King Deluxe room and – it pains me a bit to say – I’m pretty sure that suite was bigger than our San Francisco studio apartment! The main room has a bed, couch and a wine fridge. The bathroom is equipped with heated floors, a large tub and a shower. Then, there’s the large private patio with a fireplace and chairs, which we found ourselves on for dinner with wine and pizza we picked up in town. If you don’t want to leave the property for dinner, just pop over to the Michelin Star restaurant.
A morning dip in a secluded farmhouse pool with fog and nothing but a cup of hot coffee and perhaps a cat checking in on you is such a relaxing way to start the day!
No matter what time of year you visit, spending time in the pool area is a must. We popped out there early in the morning, grabbed a coffee from the 24-hour reception area and took a morning dip in the heated pool. Robin preferred the hot tub. This region tends to be foggy in the early mornings, but it quickly burns off and turns into bright, strong sun. A morning dip in a secluded farmhouse pool with fog and nothing but a cup of hot coffee and perhaps a cat checking in on you is such a relaxing way to start the day!
From Noon-5pm the Farmstand is open and is a must for a lunch or even just a quick snack! The Farmstand is located at the front near reception. You’ll spot it upon check-in! You can dine at the pool or on the patio and enjoy table service. I highly recommend ordering one of their fresh juices, but they also serve wine (this is a wine country hotel, after all!) I had the veggie sandwich which was hands-down probably one of the best veggie sandwiches I’ve ever had. Robin really loved this burger. This lunch was a peaceful way to end our visit at The Farmhouse Inn before our drive back to San Francisco.

I really wanted to read more of your posts but have to abandon my efforts due to all the pop-ups and constant loads. You have a wealth of info to share…disappointing it’s so inaccessible due to website structure / ads.
