We Used Uber Bike To Explore Our Favorite San Francisco Neighborhood

Uber Bikes

Robin and I love San Francisco, but we especially love our neighborhood, the Inner Sunset. It’s a little slower over here compared to the bustling spots like Fisherman’s Wharf or Union Square. The best entrance to the Golden Gate Park is accessed by the Inner Sunset on 9th Street, so there’s always some energy about, but it’s relaxed. There’s, of course, a lot of good places to eat and some of our favorite hangouts in the city are here. We’ve walked this neighborhood hundred of times, which is why I was really excited to spend an afternoon biking the Inner Sunset for a change. Uber Bike just launched, so Robin and I did a whole afternoon out in our corner of San Francisco, exploring it from a whole different point of view.

Uber Bike is incredibly easy to use. On a sunny afternoon, we pulled open the app and saw there were a few JUMP Bike available to use just 6 blocks away. We reserved them via the Uber app, pulled on our shoes and headed out to 8th and Irving for an afternoon of biking around our favorite neighborhood. We only own one bike, so we rarely get to bike around together. It was a fun treat!

We started on 8th and Irving and immediately headed into Golden Gate Park. There are so many parts to this park, it’s hard to explore it all by foot. Biking is so much easier! Did you know it’s bigger than Central Park? Our top favorite areas are the Botanical Gardens (Psst – free for SF residents!) and the Stow Lake Area. We headed towards Stow Lake, but made time to stop and literally smell the flowers, wander around the central area, pop into the gardens and then finally up the hill to Stow Lake. I was really happy the JUMP Bike have motors so we weren’t working too hard.

After Stow Lake, we biked over to The Hollow a few blocks away. This is by far my favorite coffee shop in the city and just happens to be in my hood! My favorite thing to order is the Matcha Latte, so if you visit, make sure to try it! I also love their seasonal drinks, especially the ones they make for the holidays. This coffee shop is really tiny, you may even bike right by it without noticing that it’s there! It’s bright green and narrow on the inside but has such a calm, cozy feeling. The perfect place to break during a bike ride.

Then, we headed back towards Irving and 9th to grab some ice cream from Homemade SF, one of the best ice cream joints in town! They make crazy flavors like Matcha, Poppy Seed and Creamsicle. Today we grabbed cones, but the flights are a really fun way to taste all the flavors. After ice cream, we returned our JUMP Bike by simply finding the nearest bike rack, locking them back up and closing out the app. Easy peasy! In total, we spent about $6 for an afternoon of fun exercise. I’m so happy that Uber Bike launched. I used to ride my bike every day to class in college but it’s hard to bike in this city due to hills. These handy motored JUMP Bike on demand via Uber are a game changer. Make sure to try these out when you’re in San Francisco!

Thank you to Uber for sponsoring this post.
