I’ve been testing skincare for over a decade on Whimsy Soul. I’ve reviewed enough expensive products to know that most of the time, you can replicate the results for a fraction of the price at a drugstore. I came into this Dr. Diamond Metacine review fully prepared to be the biggest hater.
A $325 serum? Come on.
And yet here I am, three months later, with an almost empty jar and the best skin of my adult life. I’m 34. My skin hasn’t looked this good since before puberty. This is my honest InstaFacial Infusion review and I genuinely cannot believe I’m writing it.
What Is Dr. Diamond’s Metacine?
Dr. Jason Diamond is a world-renowned facial plastic surgeon known for his signature in-office procedure, the Diamond InstaFacial, along with other night creams, the Retinopro Growth Factor Serum, and other products designed to target skincare products at a high level.
This treatment combines laser technology and microneedling with a patient’s own platelet-rich plasma, which is both injected and microneedled into the skin before finishing with a medical-grade collagen infusion therapy.
His skincare line, Dr. Diamond’s Metacine, was built to bring that same science home. The InstaFacial Collection is directly inspired by that in-office procedure.
For anyone curious about his broader line, Dr. Diamond also works with bioactive growth factor technology across other Metacine products, but the Infusion is where I started and where I’m staying for now.
What Is The InstaFacial Infusion?
- Price: $325 / 35ml
- Best for: All skin types, tested on combo to dry
- How to use: 1-2 pumps on damp skin, AM or PM
- Clinical trial: 12 weeks, 39 participants, all skin types
- Repurchasing? Yes, already ordered another jar
The InstaFacial Infusion is a lightweight creamy gel collagen treatment formulated with a proprietary Biomimetic Microcollagen Matrix. Instead of using animal-derived collagen like most products on the market, Dr. Diamond’s formula uses three types of bioengineered, human-identical microcollagen peptides that your skin actually recognizes and absorbs.
Here’s the science in plain English. Collagen starts declining as early as your 20s. The full collagen protein is too large to absorb through skin, which is why most topical collagen products historically haven’t done much.
This formula uses smaller peptide fragments that actually penetrate and support the synthesis of Types I and III collagen, the two most responsible for firm, youthful skin.
The Three Microcollagen Peptides
- sh-Polypeptide-121 — bioidentical to human Type XXI collagen, acts as a precursor to Types I and III
- sh-Polypeptide-123 — bioengineered to be identical to human Type III collagen
- sr-sh-Polypeptide-69 Dipeptide-19 — recombinant Type III with a low molecular weight for better skin absorption
None of these come from animals or plants. They’re bioengineered in a lab and designed to be recognized by the body as self. The formula also includes sodium hyaluronate, niacinamide, squalane, beta glucan, red macroalgae, and proteoglycans to round out the matrix.
It’s $325 for 35ml. Keep reading before you close the tab.
My Dr. Diamond Metacine Review After Three Months
I started using the InstaFacial Infusion in December. I apply one to two pumps on slightly damp skin, either morning or night, as my first layer before moisturizer. I don’t have any other Metacine products yet, so I’ve been using it solo.
It’s actually designed to be used after the InstaFacial Plasma and before the InstaFacial Emulsion, which means I’ve probably been leaving results on the table. Even without the full system, the results have been genuinely shocking.
The texture is slightly opaque with a slick, almost gel-like feel. It absorbs really well and doesn’t leave any heaviness or residue. For my combo to dry skin it has been a perfect first layer.
What I’ve Actually Noticed
Here’s what three months of daily use has done for my skin:
- My skin texture is more firm than it’s been in years
- My pores look noticeably smaller
- Discoloration has faded in a way my old routine never touched
- My skin looks hydrated in the way healthy skin looks hydrated, not in a dewy product-sitting-on-top-of-your-face way
- I haven’t had a single hormonal breakout in three months — and I used to break out every month around my period without fail
The trip test sealed it for me. I skipped the serum for a week while traveling and my skin visibly started to slide back. That’s when I knew it wasn’t placebo. Something is actually happening here.
The Clinically Proven Results
In an independent clinical trial, 39 participants aged 35 to 65 across all skin types replaced their normal skincare routines with the InstaFacial Infusion for 12 weeks. Results were measured by clinical instrumentation, not just self-reported feelings. Here’s what the data showed:
- 100% had improvement in skin hydration immediately, 96% at 8 weeks, 90% at 12 weeks
- 88% reported skin looked more luminous and radiant after 8 weeks
- 88% reported skin looked lifted and firmer after 12 weeks
- 84% reported cheeks looked fuller and lifted after 12 weeks
- 81% had improvement in skin softness and suppleness after 12 weeks
- 72% reported neck looked smoother and less crepey after 12 weeks
- 69% reported jawline looked lifted and contoured after 12 weeks
- 68% had improvement in fine lines after 8 weeks
- 62% had improvement in transepidermal water loss after 8 weeks
- 59% had improvement in facial sagging at 12 weeks
- 56% had improvement in skin elasticity after 12 weeks
That’s not marketing copy. That’s instrumentation data from an independent clinical investigator. It backs up everything I’ve been experiencing on my own face.
Is The InstaFacial Infusion Worth $325?
My honest default after a decade of testing is that the drugstore version usually works just as well. The InstaFacial Infusion is the exception. The results I’ve seen in three months are more significant than anything I’ve gotten from products at similar price points.
My jar is almost empty. I’m already buying another one. That tells you everything.
If you want to get the most out of it, look into the full InstaFacial Collection. I genuinely think I’ve been leaving results on the table by not using the Plasma and Emulsion alongside it.
InstaFacial Infusion FAQ
What is the Dr. Diamond Metacine InstaFacial Infusion?
The InstaFacial Infusion is a clinically proven collagen serum from Dr. Jason Diamond’s Metacine skincare line. It uses a proprietary Biomimetic Microcollagen Matrix with three types of human-identical microcollagen peptides to visibly firm, lift, hydrate and define skin. It’s inspired by the final step of Dr. Diamond’s signature in-office InstaFacial procedure.
Is the InstaFacial Infusion worth the price?
After three months of personal testing, yes. The clinically proven results are backed by independent instrumentation and the real-world results on my own skin have been more significant than products I’ve tried at similar price points. My jar is almost empty and I’m already repurchasing.
How do you use the InstaFacial Infusion?
Apply one to two pumps on slightly damp skin morning and night as your first skincare layer before moisturizer. For best results, Dr. Diamond recommends using it after the InstaFacial Plasma and before the InstaFacial Emulsion as part of the full collection.
What skin type is the InstaFacial Infusion good for?
The clinical trial included all skin types across the Fitzpatrick scale. I personally have combo to dry skin and it has worked beautifully as a first layer. The lightweight gel texture absorbs well without feeling heavy.
Does the InstaFacial Infusion help with hormonal acne?
This isn’t marketed as an acne treatment but I personally stopped breaking out monthly after starting it. I can’t make a clinical claim here but my skin has been clearer than it’s been in years since adding this to my routine.
*Imags
I came in wanting to hate this. I’m leaving a full convert with the best skin of my adult life at 34. If you’ve been on the fence about whether a $325 serum can actually do something your current routine can’t, this one can.
