Man oh man, the warm months are right around the corner and every summer I get comments from woman on Instagram that say things like….
“Wow I wish I could wear that!”
“I’ve never liked bikinis, I wish I could be fearless like you!”
And so on and so on. And it always breaks my heart because my goal is for every woman on the planet to fully love her curves and body. I’ve been pretty open about my journey to loving my curves. (Read here to get up to speed). It wasn’t an easy process to going from covering myself with a towel each time I stood up to prancing around a hotel pool in a bikini in a very “no fucks are given” sort of way, but man, living life that second way is SO MUCH better. When your brain isn’t consumed with thoughts of “everyone must think I’m fat” or “my thighs are so gross, I hope nobody is looking at me walk” you can actually think about other things like “it’s a really nice day out, I’m so happy to be here at the beach enjoying my life”
Think back to last summer – how much time did you spend looking at other people thinking “she looks fat in that suit, I can’t believe she dared to scare my eyeballs like that today”. Unless you’re a terrible human, the answer is probably never.
Wouldn’t that be nice, to stop obsessing over something as trivial as how your body looks in a swimsuit? Because here’s a secret – everyone at some point in their lives has felt really awful in swimsuits. Seriously. Even models feel insecure. I promise that if you went to your local pool and surveyed everyone there, the majority would tell you that they didn’t feel confident in a swimsuit and are worried other people are judging them for being in a swimsuit in the first place.
I don’t want you to be that person. Instead, I want you to be the woman who expels confidence, has a good day at the beach and maybe even spreads enough encouragement to another woman to do that same thing. So, how does one find that confidence?
Step one: buy a swimsuit (like the one I’m wearing – out of stock, similar here)
Step two: put your body into a swimsuit.
Boom! You did it, that’s the hardest part. More often than not, I put on a suit, look in the mirror and think DANG, you’re sexy. But to get to that point, you have to actually put the suit on. Now, when it comes time to being out and about in public, here’s a little secret I want you to keep in mind:
Everyone else is really concerned about how they look in a swimsuit as well. And most people are so concerned, that they aren’t paying attention to you or how you look. I’m serious. Think back to last summer – how much time did you spend looking at other people thinking “she looks fat in that suit, I can’t believe she dared to scare my eyeballs like that today”. Unless you’re a terrible human, the answer is probably never. So, remember that if you start to feel insecure about wearing a swimsuit.
On that note, I’ve gathered a handful of swimsuits that I really love for the 2017 summer. From one-piece to bikinis, I firmly believe that there is a swimsuit out there that will make you feel beautiful. Go and find it!

I’ve been wearing one-pieces this summer and I feel so sexy and confident. I actually bought 3 and donated all my bikinis! I’ve never liked bikinis… you can’t move in them without feeling like you are going to flash someone or lose a top or bottom completely! That suit looks great on you!
I love hearing this! I’ve never felt great in bikinis either, but I remember when I was younger, I felt like that was the only option! So happy you are feeling confident 🙂
