My quarantine obsession has shifted away from nerdy Harry Potter cocktails and I’m officially on the hunt for the best natural deodorants.
Whispers around the internet led me to Corpus Naturals Deodorant, rumored to be the best new clean beauty deodorant on the market. I bought it and wore it for a couple of weeks for a super honest review. Does it work? Is it worth the $24 price tag?
I Tried Corpus Deodorant For 3 Weeks & Here’s What Happened
I’m not going to lie – the thing I hate most about using natural deodorants is that they are expensive AF. A couple of years ago I switched from my $4 stick of Dove deodorant to Native (and then Myro and even Dove’s aluminum-free stick for a hot minute.)
How Much Is Corpus Naturals?
A stick from Corpus will run you about $24-$27 depending on where you buy it. I bought mine directly from the company website which has free shipping, but you can also shop a few Corpus scents at Credo Beauty (the best clean beauty collective out there.)
And that’s not cheap. Compared to all the other natural deodorant brands I’ve tried so far, it’s the most expensive.
Things I Love About Corpus Deodorant
But (spoiler alert) they work hard to earn that price tag. There are some standard highlights from this brand I love.
Corpus Has A Great Scent
Off the bat, the first thing I noticed upon opening the product was the scent. I got Corpus Deodorant Nº Green which to me (and my husband) smells like pink lemonade. It’s amazing. The scent isn’t as strong as Native, but much strong than Myro, which was one of the reasons I stopped using the brand (I love to be able to smell my deodorant for hours after I apply it!)
Corpus uses essential oils for their fragrance, which I know some people are iffy about, but they’re all sourced and made without extra janky chemicals.
Corpus Is Mega Clean
If Credo Beauty stocks it, that means they do a great job of being super clean beauty. Corpus uses totally naturally derived ingredients. Their formula is vegan and made all from plants and minerals. Some ingredients are even organic! BUT they don’t use baking soda which was a godsend for sensitive skin. (You can find their full natural deodorant ingredients list here.)
Does Corpus Deodorant Have Aluminum?
Nope! It’s a natural deodorant that doesn’t use aluminum. Though, it’s important to note the American Cancer Society has debunked the myth that aluminum causes cancer. I still prefer to use natural deodorant, clean skincare and clean makeup products to limit the number of chemicals I’m putting on my body.
They Use Sustainable Packaging & Business Practices
I love when I order something online and it comes in recycled materials, or with just the bare bones of what I need (no extra papers, padding materials just for show, etc.) My Corpus packaging nailed it.
The actual applicator is plastic (a mix of virgin and recycled plastic) but Corpus states online they hope to be able to find a different solution in the future. Additionally, their manufacturing plants use solar power and hydroelectricity and they use rail shipment vs trucks or cargo plans. Three cheers for that!
VERDICT: Does Corpus Deodorant Work?
Yes! I took my Corpus along with me to a long weekend of hiking around Sequoia National Park (and worked up quite the sweat tromping through all that snow!) and I couldn’t smell myself afterward. I did reapply once we got back to our Airbnb out of comfort but I didn’t have to.
I did have a rash the first couple of days of using Corpus, but that usually happens to me whenever I switch deodorant brands. All in all, I really love my Corpus.
I’m still not a HUGE fan of the $24 price tag (it’s just not realistic for many people in this pandemic economy right now to swing) but if you have the disposable income and are looking for one of the best natural deodorants out there, you’ll love Corpus. I recommend the Nº Green scent (but I almost bought their Third Rose scent, it looks amazing as well.)
