Heading to the Mile High City? Tucked at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Denver is a city full of spunk, street art, trees and craft beer. (OH MY so much craft beer!) While visiting this fall, we were looking for a beautiful hotel that was in walking distance to all the good spots in the city and we found it with the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver!
Type: Boutique
Good For: Business, Couples, friends
Right downtown and a straight shot to Union Station or a short walk to RiNo, Kimpton Monaco is a great home base for exploring the city. With nightly free happy hours, elegant rooms, a gym, free bikes and a great on-site restaurant (just to name a few amenities) this hotel is really focused on giving guests both access to the city but also a retreat after a long day.

We love Kimpton hotels. Since my husband and I travel so much writing for this here travel blog, it’s really important to us to have some consistency in hotels. Kimptons are all over the country and we always know what to expect: a clean, beautiful room with funky decor. Free happy hours. Awesome front desk staff. A good on-site restaurant. Free bikes. And there’s usually always something unique to each hotel, too. (For instance, our Kimpton in Santa Barbara had trivia night in the bar on Wednesday!)
Kimpton Monaco Denver is in the heart of the city a short walk from iconic spots like Union Station or RiNo.
Kimpton Monaco Denver has fun pops of yellow decor in their lobby and stunning use of wallaper in the rooms. I also adored the large windows that brought in tons of natural light to our room. Kimpton serves California wine at happy hour each night from 5pm-6pm. (We thought it was funny that we came from California to Denver and drank local to us wine – ha!) They also serve small bites, we snacked on potatoes in a cream sauce the night we stopped by for drinks.
We borrwed bikes on our last day so we could go exploring the Cherry Creek Trail. We ended up biking over 10 miles!! It was one of my favorite parts of our trip and it was so nice that we didn’t have to deal with renting bikes, they are just available in the lobby for us to check out.
- Pro tip: before you bike away, make sure the seat is adjusted to your height, the tires are full of air and the brakes are working well. If not, they’ll happily pump more air, move your seat and tighten some screws for you!
On our first night we had dinner at Panazno downstairs which was perfect after a long day of travel and exploring! Panzano is a poping Italian restaurant that has some of the best cocktails in the city as well! I adored my Pumpkin Spice cocktail, a seasonal drink that had all the perfect fall vibes. Or, the Graffito is a great cocktail to start with if you’re about barrel-aged drinks.
You really can’t go wrong with this menu, but make sure to order at least one pasta dish. I ordered the Ragu Di Angello and the meat was so tender! Robin tried the Ricotta Ravioli which had the perfect amount of zing. This place is popular so you may want to set a reservation beforehand to ensure you get a table!
