It’s getting to the point of San Francisco summer that it’s been so foggy for so long that I’m low-key getting seasonal depression. I love this city, but these are the weeks where everyone else in the country is soaking up sunny happy hours in gardens and I’m shivering in fog under grey skies.
So my countermeasure has been to dress like it’s 80 outside to trick myself into thinking it’s cheery weather. I’m not sure if it’s working but I’m having fun.
Sunday July 11th
I spent all Sunday morning in bed writing. I’ve been totally overhauling my San Francisco Travel Guide to be refreshed. It’s just generally a bit outdated since I first wrote it in 2016, but now it’s half the things I featured didn’t survive the pandemic (sobs).
In the afternoon I dragged myself outside for a walk and stumbled upon the beloved Inner Sunset Flea Market. It’s been gone for long and finally back!!! I was thrilled! A nice lady sold me a bunch of necklaces and a headscarf all for $25, including the gold chains I’m wearing above.
The earrings are from H&M but are sold out (similar here.) along with the white top which is actually a bodysuit. And of course, that’s sold out too but this one is similar. The pants are from a few years ago, similar style here that’s on sale!
Monday July 12th
I tackled like 15 things on my to-do list today, I felt so productive! My highlight though was walking by a box of free books while running errands and holy cow, this box was GOLD. All the Harry Potters (minus Goblet of Fire) was in there so I was able to finally almost complete our collection (we had Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hollows already.) Mom – if you’re reading this – I may have to steal GOF when I’m home next week.
I was eager to style my thrifted headscarf so I styled it in a low ponytail. Since the scarf is green, I wore this dark green silky cami (old, similar here) along with white paper bag shorts from Walmart. They’ve very comfy!! Heels are from Macy’s, they’re comfy and go with everything.
Tuesday, July 13th
Another gloomy and foggy day in the city! We were hoping for better weather since we had to shoot a swimsuit campaign but alas — fog and mist. I wasn’t exactly looking forward to prancing around on a beach in 53 degrees but it actually ended up being amazing. The tide was low and we got this amazing view between these rocks. Here for it. Later that day I met a friend for happy hour in the Castro at Santeria, a newish margarita bar.
I thought this swimsuit doubles really nicely as a bodysuit! I wore black leggings from Old Navy (on sale for $4!) over the swimsuit, along with a jacket also from Old Navy. My boots are from Kamik – I love this style, I just got the soles replaced last week since I wore them through! My gold chain is under $10.
Thursday – July 15th.
I spent literally all of Wednesday in bed, still in my PJs, writing and editing photos. Thursday honestly has kind of similar, but at least I got dressed today! HA! As you know, I’m really digging overalls right now. These are from Old Navy (size up, they run small) and are so dang comfy. It’s been a little humid here so I wore an Aerie white lace bralette under (last seen in this post.) It’s sadly sold out but this bralette is very similar.
Friday – July 16th
Offta today was filled with packing, cleaning, errands and more packing. Followed by a 4-hour car ride into the mountains for a little whirlwind trip with the girls hunting down swimming holes.
I started out in this Madewell dress for the errands since it’s a warmer dress, but switched to this new red and white set from Zaful for my car ride (it’s almost 100 degrees in Sonora compared to about 55 here in San Francisco. YIKES). As I rant about in this post, I don’t think Zaful is the most ethical company. I bought some things from them for a Saw It On Social review. Despite that, I really like this set, it fits curves well and is super light for summer heat.
This hat is from Walmart. I like the tie around the neck so if a big gust of wind comes, it stays on my body! I’ve lost way too many hats due to wind in the past. Glasses are old (aren’t they fun?!) The gold necklaces also from Zaful.
