It’s been a few years since I’ve been down in San Diego but I remember how much I loved Balboa Park. Down here again this week with Robin, I knew I had to take him here one evening when the temps are a bit cooler and the golden hour hazy light fills everything with a cozy warm glow.
For our adventures, I pulled on this breezy floral dress from Cupshe. Despite being a midi dress and longer than the jean shorts I was sporting earlier that day, the fabric is lightweight, so I didn’t overheat.
As with most Cupshe dresses, this white floral one can actually be worn as a swimsuit coverup, too. But I like styling it on its own, especially with a straw hat or a matching white hair clip. It has a stretchy middle making it easy for all body types to comfortably wear. I wore this with my Rothy’s since they are great for long walking days, but it also looks nice with white shoes or heels.
I thought it was the perfect thing to sport while wandering the lush gardens at Balboa Park. This place is really cool. It’s more manufactured than Golden Gate Park but still beautiful. It has tons of museums that are open during the day, but we purposely came around 5pm when they were closed.
The evenings are when Balboa Park has fewer crowds, and by the time we left around 6:30pm I swear we were the only people left in the park. The temps are cooler in the evenings, too, making it more enjoyable to hike and explore, especially as we hunted for the cats in the Cactus Gardens! I can deal with the heat but Robin (my husband) is like Olaf. He quickly melts into a puddle when left out in the sunshine too long.
I know we’re all vibing hard on the upcoming fall season, but the reality is we still have a few more weeks of hot weather left. Wandering San Deigo was a good reminder of that – it’s so foggy up in San Francisco that I forget the rest of the world has summer weather until the end of September, if not longer!
I forgot my chaffing cream on this trip, AGAIN. You would think after that crisis in Portugal I would have remembered, but alas. I also forgot my chaffing bands so I’m not wearing them in these photos, but I’m positive the fabric of this breezy white dress is thick enough you wouldn’t be able to see them being worn. You could even wear shorts! These are the best shorts to wear under dresses, btw.
This dress is true to size and timeless enough to wear again next spring, or on any warm-weather winter vacations, you have in the works. Shop it now.
