12 Black Owned Businesses To Shop Online

  • Kara
  • June 2, 2020

Here at Whimsy Soul, we’re constantly sharing amazing brands we think our readers will love too. But, intentionally sharing and shopping from black-owned businesses has never been top of mind for me. I’m changing that moving forward.

This list of 12 black-owned businesses is just the start. Robin and I will be holding ourselves accountable to intentionally seek out black-owned brands to feature in future listicles so we can leverage our influence to support these shops. And, we’re practicing what we preach with our personal shopping dollars as well.

Our readers are all over the nation (and globe) so for this list, I focused on brands that can be shopped online. There are SO MANY more black-owned businesses than the 12 on this list. This is a black business directory that you can find a detailed list of some black-owned businesses broken down by categories.

Alrighty, time to get to the good stuff!

12 Black Owned Businesses I'm Obsessed With

Black Owned Businesses to support and shop online. From home decor to jewelry to clothing and more - you'll love these shops as much as I do.

This post does not contain any affiliate links so any sales made by you can 100% go to the owners.

Fat Mermaids

i need this shirt ASAP!

Fat Mermaids is a body-positive t-shirt shop that centers fat people who are unapologetically fat in a world that tells us that we should be ashamed of existing. They believe in being magical, bold, and taking up space!

GOLDE

Golde makes superfood-boosted essentials for health and beauty. I'm personally eyeing that Superfood Latte Blends Kit. Quarantine got me playing barista and I'm obsessed with my early afternoon lattes these days.

McBride Sisters

McBride Sisters is the largest African-American-owned wine company in the United States. They source fruit from New Zealand and California (two of my FAVORITE wine regions, btw) so next time your wine shelf is running low, head here. You can buy online and they ship!

Red Bay Coffee

Red Bay Coffee's motto is "Beautiful Coffee To The People" They are an Oakland-based coffee roaster company that makes AMAZING coffee ( know because I had the honor of interviewing their founder last year.) Stock your kitchen up with one of their many craft blends.

Jungalow

This boho chic home decor brand encourages you to decorate wild. If you've seen my apartment tour you can probably already guess that I could easily spend my entire savings account at Junaglow and die a happy woman. They also have a partnership with Trees For The Future to plant trees with every purchase!

The Baked Clay Studio

Stunning small batch clay earrings made in Portland. I've been super into clay earrings this year, they're so fun unique and colorful. Plus, I love that they are usually all handmade by another human. Adds that personal touch.

PS - She's currently offering free shipping on all orders!

Jam+Rico

Founder Lisette Scott created Jam + Rico (Jamaica and Puerto Rico) to merge and show off the two cultures of her ancestors through jewelry. If you're looking for statement earrings, she goes BIG and BOLD with her designs!

UNWRP

FINALLY - funky and fun gifting options & wrapping paper. I think I can speak for all of us when I say we're tired of snowmen and balloons as the only gifting packaging options.

Honey Pot Feminine Care

Feminine care products that are all free of chemicals, toxins, artificial fragrance, or anything synthetic. They are also biodegradable, cruelty-free and made by women. Can't get better than that.

(PS available instore at Targets too, so keep an eye out on your next shopping trip)

Vault California

Oh my this is my new favorite Bay Area store that I can't wait to hopefully visit in person one day. In the meantime, I bought myself a new candle from Vault California (because I have a candle addiction.)

The Sleepy Wildflower

Beautiful artwork by Melissa, who says "Each piece of artwork that I create is based on moments from my life. Our stories might look similar, but can be translated into something that is uniquely and powerfully your own."

Just a reminder that there are so many ways to support black businesses offline, too (ie local restaurants, buying books by black authors, etc) If you don’t see your business or your favorite shop please shout them out in the comments below so everyone can see.
