Last year I was fully converted to team Sezane after I tested them out and was surprised to find out that yes, indeed, a size 14 curvy girl like me really could fit into a french brand.
But, what about the USA girlie’s favorite capsule wardrobe brand, Everlane? I only see a very specific type *ahem – shape* of women wear their clothes. Beyond Everlane shoes and a single jumpsuit, I’ve had almost no experience with their popular items.
So, I had to change that. I placed a huge $900 order try out all sorts of clothing styles to bring you an honest curvy girl’s Everlane review to chat fit, quality and if this Insta-famous clothing brand is really worth your money.
Everlane At A Glance
Everlane was founded by Michael Preysman and Jesse Farmer in 2010. The Everlane model is all about “radical transparency” with the statement that “We believe our customers have a right to know how much their clothes cost to make. We reveal the true costs behind all of our products—from materials to labor to transportation—then offer them to you, minus the traditional retail markup.”
All Everlane fashion pieces showcase the supply chain, factories, employees, and the price breakdown of each product so you can see how much you are “saving”.
(The Everlane business model is famous for this and since I have seen a few other stores break down production for consumers but nobody does it as well as they do.)
On top of bringing radical transparency to consumers, theory the company is also built on sustainability values (though, there’s a lot to unpack there, more later).
Everlane products tend to lean towards the basics – think whites, neutrals, blacks and greys to build a wardrobe around. Or, entirely, if color isn’t your thing. They have a cult-like following and are favored by the IT influencer girlies of TikTok and Instagram.
So, naturally, I had to try them out.
What I Ordered From Everlane
Whenever I do product reviews like this, I always try and order items from various categories: pants, tops, jackets, shoes, etc. To really get a holistic view and share all the insider tea.
l have previously bought Everlane flats (which I love) and, a few years ago, a jumpsuit that I wore around Portugal. I’ll add those item reviews into by Everlane review blog post.

Everlane Clothing Review – How Everything Actually Fit And Felt
There are some Everlane items that blew me out of the water, and some I tried on that felt like something I could have bought off of Amazon.
The stand out items for me are Everlane jackets – the quilted jacket I got felt very high quality and the stitching was done well. This coat is absolutely something that could last for years and years.
I also really do love their shoes. Everlane shoes just hit different. I’ve had my pair of leather day glove flats for about 4 years now and have worn them literally all over the world. They’re starting to get worn out, naturally, but are still comfy and holding up.
There’s a pretty good chance I’ll be replacing my pair this year since I love them so much. I haven’t found a flat better than this one. They did take a while to break in, that’s the only annoying thing about these leather shoes but once you break them in, they last forever.
Everlane Basics Are Well, Basic
Some of the pieces that felt like a let down from the internet hype were Everlane’s basics, like t-shirts and button ups.
I bought The Supima Micro-Rib Funnel-Neck Tank in white as a basic layering shirt. It’s $40 and absolutely the same fit and feel as similar white tanks I’ve bought at Target for $5. So, I would recommend you head to Target or Walmart to stock up on basic white t-shirts and tanks and other layering pieces since you will save a ton of money.
I grabbed a few of their cashmere sweaters, too and they were good but not outstanding. I just got new Quince cashmere sweaters and with those fresh on my mind, the Everlane pieces just didn’t feel the same.
Quince’s cashmere is incredibly soft and felt luxurious, but Everlane’s felt a little thin and not as soft. Still great sweaters but at over $100 each, I think it’s better to stick to the far more affordable Quince ($50) for that sort of basic layering item.
Everlane Jeans & Pants Are Hit or Miss
The real test as a curvy girl is how a brand’s jeans and pants fit. Why are pants so dang hard for companies to design for humans who have curves?
I ordered 2 pairs of jeans and 3 pants and was shocked by how each one fit drastically differently.
The Curvy Way-High Jean was a smudge too tight for me but otherwise fit really well and hugged my curves in all the right ways. I didn’t keep them since I’m not a big jean girlie, but if I did I would want to size up on them.
The standard Way High Jean, though, was so small I couldn’t fit it past my mid-thigh. These are not at all the same style of jean despite being the “straight version” of the Curve Way High Jean.
It felt so different and so rigid that it was clear to me these jeans are made for folks who are skinny as a stick. If that describes you, then go for these jeans. Otherwise, don’t even look at any Everlane jeans that aren’t labeled “curvy”.
The other pant that really disappointed me was the Easy Pant. Everlane is famous for their Easy Pants so I had high hopes. I work from home and love pull on pants that are chic but comfy enough to wear on the couch.
But I was so disappointed by the Easy Pant. It fit well, but the fabric felt so cheap and plasticky. Like pants I bought from Amazon and made from 100% polyester instead of cotton.
But on the flip side, their High Waist Drape Pant (featured here) felt like a good quality piece.
Everlane Size Chart Review
TBH, Everlane doesn’t have the best size chart. I ordered a few pairs of pants in different styles but all the same size, and they all fit radically differently. One was way too small (easily 2 sizes smaller) and the others fit just fine.
I remember also having some issues with their shoes back when I first bought my flat, I had to swap out my usual size and it took a while for the new size to even break in since they are leather.
My big takeaway for you is that you may have to buy 2 sizes of pieces since there is no standard sizing between pieces. Everlane thankfully has an easy return process, so you can quickly return the size that doesn’t work.
But other beef with Everlane’s sizing is just their lack of size inclusivity. They only go up to XL, though it’s not uncommon for their pieces run to small or sometimes they only go up to size M or L.
I feel like I’m constantly screaming off mountain tops that fashion brands need inclusive sizing and nobody ever listens. *sigh*
Everlane Shoes Reviews
As I chatted about above, I love Everlane shoes. I think they make some of the best investment shoes on the market that are comfy and actually last for years. They are expensive but high quality and you get a great cost per wear out of them.
My favorites are the Everlane Day Glove and Day Heel.
The Day Glove is made of buttery soft leather that molds to your foot for a perfect, custom fit. With features like a back pull tab, side vents, a rubber sole, and a cushioned insole, it's truly up for anything and lasts for literally years.
- Lasts forever
- Comes in many colors
- Very comfy
- Takes a while to break-in
Final Verdict: Is Everlane Worth It?
Yes and no. There are pieces, like their shoes and jackets, that are absolutely worth the investment for me. I cherish some of my Everlane fashion pieces and can see the difference in quality when compared to other items in my closet.
But, there were some items I tried that were just meh for me and felt overpriced for what they were.
At the end of the day, Everlane offers timeless designs that aren’t tied down to year by year trends, which is awesome. They are much closer to slow fashion than fast and you rely on them to make sustainable pieces this year and the same piece 3 years from now.
Not every item is worth the purchase, though, but at the end of the day, it’s up to you to decide which ones are worth the investment for you. Basic t-shirts can totally be bought cheaper at other stores, but go to Everlane for curvy jeans, shoes and jackets.
All About The Everlane Controversy
I can’t talk about Everlane without mentioning their union controversy in 2020. This rock the fashion world since Everlane furloughed 290 team members, most who had indicated they were going to form a union.
Ex-Everlane employees also came out in 2020 with stories of how toxic the company culture is and how management was also racist. Apparently “customers would walk in and see white employees representing the brand” at events and in-store, and the HQ didn’t do anything to make changes.
Fast forward to 2024 and the company now has a different C level team and vows to do better. I haven’t been able to find many accounts of any changes being made (let me know if you spot an article, drop it below!)
Frequently Asked Questions About Everlane
Is Everlane Sustainable?
This is the big question and almost the elephant in the room. Everlane’s radical transparency hinges on sustainable practices, but they repeatedly rank low on third-party sustainability reports.
Many people call Everlane’s company model as just Greenwashing, with only basic plastic reduction goals instead of more robust environmental programs that other sustainable brands have.
There’s also very little information about Everlane’s factories and work conditions there. So much for radical transparency.
Is Everlane A Luxury Brand?
Everlane quality over all is pretty great and in recent years they have leaned into the “quiet luxury” side of fashion.
While they pride themselves on sharing transparency on production, their items do run high and their markups are very large. I just did the math on their High Waist Drape Pants and their profit margin is over $100 per pair of pants. I would call that a high-end brand.
Everlane sales are usually just around holidays and you can get slight discounts on items, but in general you can expect full prices on their pieces.
What Is the Everlane Review BBB?
Everlane is not BBB accredited and only has a few reviews at 1 star. It hasn’t been updated in a bit, but BBB rates them at an A+ despite customers rating them as a 1 star. Most complaints are around shipping and lost orders with no refunds, but some of the bad reviews are based on the poor quality of items in general.
