CONFESSION: I didn’t really have acne as a teenager. I had breakouts, of course, but sparingly and they weren’t anything a bit of acne face wash couldn’t handle.
But then my 20’s rolled around and BOOM, adult acne! I never had the practice of an acne-first skincare routine as a teen and I wasn’t sure how to properly integrate acne-preventative skincare products into my routine. Enter: For Hers Acne Treatment.
In this post I’ll be sharing my experience with Hers Acne treatment plan, walk you through what to expect and some tips for using the product!
Over the course of the years as I got older I, like everyone, experienced more stress (adulting is hard!!) which totally leads to breakouts. I’ve moved a few times to different climates and I also travel a lot (which my skin isn’t always happy out.) And I LOVE my wine nights with the girls but guess what… my skin does NOT like wine nights with the girls.
Up until recently when I started using the Hers acne cream, I would only rely on reactive acne treatments. What I mean by that is, if I saw my face starting to break out, I would use the charcoal masks and the pimple patches to beat those zits down.
But then I realized that’s not the best way to go about having a clear face. It’s a lot like deodorant: you don’t but deodorant on AFTER you worked up a sweat. You use it as a preventive tool. Same thing with acne skincare.
A Look At Hers Skincare Adult Acne Treatment With Tretinoin
Enter: Hers Adult Acne Treatment With Tretinoin. Let’s take a look at it!
The active ingredients are tretinoin, niacinamide, and clindamycin, though each prescription is tailored to YOUR skin so the tretinoin levels will vary based on what your provider thinks is best for you.
Tretinoin is also sometimes called Retin A. It’s a derivative of vitamin A and is super great at speeding up the turnover of cell production. Faster cell growth typically leads to less chance of a pimple being able to produce or stick around too long. It also helps heal acne scars, wrinkles, etc!
This acne cream helps with preventing breakouts but also dark spots, fine lines,
blemishes and uneven skin tone.
You use it nightly as part of your skincare routine. As with anything new, it’s smart to start with a pump or two a couple times a week and then slowly bring yourself up to daily just to make sure you aren’t triggering any reactions. Make sure to consult with a healthcare provider before use and follow the instructions they provide
After that, it’s just a few pumps nightly followed by your favorite moisturizer.
How To Get Prescribed Hers Acne Cream
I really can’t stress how convenient it is! Simply head to the For Hers website and start their signup process for their acne cream. You’ll be walked through a survey that really gets to know you and your skin, along with standard medical questions like medications you’re currently taking.
You’ll have to upload a few photos of your face, but the whole process took me maybe about 15 minutes. Then Hers will match you with a provider (mine was matched within an hour!) and if the provider determines the treatment is appropriate for you, the prescription can be mailed straight to your home!t!
I had really bad childhood eczema. Thankfully I’ve for the most part grown out of it as an adult but I’ve had my fair share of office visits to the dermatologist. Once it was time to go into the doctor to get my prescription cream renewed, a cream that I relied on to minimize my rashes.
Well, it worked well (which is why I used it) and the day I went to see a doctor, I didn’t have any rashes. I remember having to really push hard to get this cream refilled and feeling embarrassed and frustrated that my doctor didn’t believe that I needed such a high dose of cream.
That’s probably the main reason I’ve never tried to get a prescription based acne treatment before. I don’t always have breakouts, they come out of nowhere, and I’m worried I won’t be taken seriously. But, there’s NONE of that going on with Hers which I LOVED!
What I Don’t Like About Hers Acne Treatment
So, in every review/deep dive into products, I always make sure to share what I liked and didn’t like. I think it’s important to look at all sides!
I honestly don’t yet have anything I don’t like about Hers. That being said, I am super curious what would happen if I suddenly stopped using the Hers acne cream. I remember from high school I had friends who were on prescribed acne treatments who forgot to bring their products on family trips and just skipping a few days results in TERRIBLE break outs.
I’m not sure if Hers is like that. It hasn’t been a problem yet since I’m writing this in the middle of quarantine but just thinking ahead to the day we can start traveling again and what would happen if I left it in my suitcase.(If you are reading this and have an answer or thoughts, leave a comment below so we can all see!)
BUT the good news is since everything is done online, I’m sure it’s easy to chat with my provider about those concerns. I just haven’t yet.
Wrap Up: Why Is Hers The Best Acne Treatment For Adult Acne?
In short, I love how this is a preventative product that’s super easy to integrate into a daily skincare routine. I can use it with my normal moisturizer, serums, etc. And, as someone with sensitive skin, this doesn’t seem to bother my skin which is another major win!
I also love how it’s SO DANG convenient to get a real prescription with a provider online. No in-person doctor office visit required, the online consultation was started with a medical survey on my own time and once I was approved, I had medical-grade products shipped right to my home within a week.
More Reasons To Love For Hers
The For Hers / For Hims brand is REALLY cool. They aren’t just a skincare line. For Hers offers tons of personal care products. Women can get a birth control prescription online at Hers, men can get a prescription for hair loss products or erectile dysfunction.
But my favorite thing is why also have online mental health support groups that are totally free!! (Well, free at the time of writing this post!) Last week I tuned in to a group session all about how to have a healthy relationship in the time of quarantine and learned some helpful tips.
So, that’s my For Hers review on their acne cream! I’m liking it a lot and I’m even getting my husband on it since he could use some help with the skincare department as well.

Tried to DM you on Instagram with a question about this product but it says you don’t accept new message requests and my message won’t be seen… not sure why you suggest doing that if you don’t accept messages…
Anyway, do you know if the Hers acne treatment has silicone in it? There’s no full ingredients list anywhere to found.

Dermal MD acne serum is amazing. Overnight I applied it & by the morning most of my acne was smaller or completely gone. I do have hormonal cystic acne and those zits were definitely less affected by this product. It did make them much less painful and definitely reduces the redness, which is a miracle, as nothing else seems to help at all😘😘
I have combination skin..now a days I’m facing little acne & blemishes issues…so I brought dermal.MD acne serum it works wonder… Results are visible after 3-4 uses✅✅
