Small Business Series: Copacabana Beachwear (A New Swimsuit Brand!)

I have an obsession with swimsuits. After years of hating them while I was younger and still battling body dysmorphia, I’m basically making up for lost time these days. On my constant hunt for swimsuits that make me feel HOT, I found a brand new swimwear line you’re going to love!

Just in time for vaccines and hopefully a ton of beach days this summer. 

Copacabana Beachwear just launched this year in 2021. Hellen Nitschke, the founder, says this line “focuses on fit and comfort for real women, from a woman with curves to another. I want to be known as the brand that makes the woman feel good and beautiful no matter which size she is.“

Too often do swimwear lines design for size small and then later, sometimes as an afterthought, design for curvy or plus-size bodies. I love that Copacabana Beachwear was founded with curves at the center of the business. Sizes start at M and go to 2Xl right now.

And I can attest, these swimsuits hug my hips and dips perfectly, all while making me feel super confident.

 I’m wearing the AMAZONIA Reversible Bikini in these photos. It has a wrap feature so the design is unique on top of being reversible. It’ll be perfect for taking on warm-weather trips when this pandemic is over to save on that suitcase space. 

Hellen says her favorite is the SAO PAULO bikini. “It fits so well and it makes me feel sexy and sophisticated, also because is versatile and great to be worn as top pair with high wasted jeans, maybe an oversized blazer over and pair of heels, holding a leather clutch or crossbody bag and good to go on a date!”

Launching a clothing brand in the middle of a pandemic isn’t easy. When I asked Hellen about her journey and tips for other women who are thinking of starting their own company, I realized we both have the same business motto: Just Do It.

Hats off to Nike for this one I guess, but sometimes the biggest thing that gets in the way of your success is yourself. Hellen agreed. “Perfection held me back for too long,” she said. “I am living by the ‘JUST DO IT’ philosophy this year, no excuse…. It’s not perfect, just do it! I don’t have all I need, just do it! It is a journey and only when we are open to failure is when we will succeed. Clarity comes from doing it not thinking about it.”

On top of being founded by a badass businesswoman and being made specifically for curvy gals, everything is made with biodegradable fabric that uses sustainable yarns manufactured via environmentally-friendly processes. Shopping small has never felt so good.
