When Pretty Little Liars icon Shay Mitchell announced her new line of bags, I was excited and waiting. The Béis weekender quickly became the “it” bag to own, (and for good reason– check out Taylor’s Béis bag review for the full lowdown), I’m not as obsessed with the price tag.
Unless you’re buying on a Black Friday sale or opting for the teensy Béis mini weekender, you’re looking at a pretty steep cost anywhere upwards of $100.
So what makes these bags so special?
For starters, many of the travel bags come with compartmentalization features. I love this– I hate when my dirty laundry or shoes touch my clean clothes while I’m traveling, so I’m a big fan of pocket space and blocked off portions.
Beis bags often have other great amenities like USB ports and adjustable shoulder straps, which is certainly a leg up on more generic brands.
Plus, they’re just really well-made, sturdy and cute. Not much more to it than that!
15 Budget-Friendly Beis Alternatives With Similar Style and Functionality
But what if I told you that it was possible to get the same sort of quality and amenities at a fraction of the cost? I know, it sounds impossible, but I’ve compiled a list of tons of Béi alternatives and look-alikes that will get the job done just as well, at a fraction of the cost.
1. BTOOP Travel Weekender
When I shop for alternatives, Amazon is almost always my first choice. The return policy pops off, and they never miss a chance for a near perfect look-alike.
Such is the case with the BTOOP weekender. It has the exact same undercarriage shoe compartment as the Béis weekender, which is one of my favorite parts of the original bag. Also, it comes with two makeup bags, which feels more than generous.
Faux leather straps means great quality that won’t snap or break on you, and it comes in a couple of different chic neutral colors.
With lots of interior pockets and a roomy main compartment, this bag could work as a gym bag or an overnighter!
2. Travel Duffle Bag Weekender Foldable
The price of this travel duffel bag is unbelievable to me. Even as someone who lives for a deal, I cannot believe how low the price is. Especially for the number of amenities and details it has.
The exterior pockets make this bag pretty perfect if you’re looking for a good gym bag or a carry-on for the plane. I am always looking for a bag with exterior pockets in case I need to grab stuff while I’m on my flight.
It also comes with a wash bag for dirty laundry. Great for the gym or a trip! The colors with this piece are a lot poppier than the original Beis, but I kind of love that. Especially at the price point– if you get sick of it, you only paid under $20!
3. Open Story Signature Weekender Bag
This bag is giving rich, extravagant weekend on the Upper East Side. I love the neutral tones, leather straps, and doctor-bag style shape. When it comes to luggage, I like a simple and effective bag that can match with any plane outfit.
This is exactly the kind of luggage that feels versatile and useful for any occasion. The detachable shoulder strap lets you decide what kind of bag you need at the moment– are you hauling heavy luggage requiring a shoulder strap? Or is it light enough that hand straps will do?
It has a laptop storage sleeve and a water repellent exterior. I once dropped my luggage off the side of a boat, so this would’ve come in handy.
4. MINKARS Weekender Bag with Shoe Compartment
A USB charging port, padded laptop compartment, shoe compartment, spacious main compartment– the only thing the MINKARS weekender doesn’t have is the ability to file your taxes.
Seriously, this is an absolute knockout of a Béis alternative (compared to the Beis Weekender). It even has the Béis signature trolley sleeve attachment, which has long been my favorite part of the Béis bag. It allows you to carry two bags at once, and is pretty much an absolute dream on crowded trains and subways.
In addition to being the closest look-alike on the list, it also comes with a crossbody bag to match the main bag. I love a freebie. Especially one that matches.
5. Quince Hardshell Carry-On
The hardshell suitcases are a little bit pricier than some of the weekender bags on the list. But, such is also the case with Béis roller bags.
When I think of the Béis hardshell rollers, I think of the lines across the body of the bag. The Quince Hardshell is a deadringer at half the price. With the same type of compartment organization to a Béi or an Away bag, it has multiple snaps and flatteners as well as a clear divider between the two compartments.
Multiple different colors, sizes, and the choice between a carry-on or a checked bag allow you to completely customize the bag.
6. Amazon Basics Hardside Spinner
Amazon Basics does it again. They pretty much consistently hit the nail on the head when it comes to cheap replicants at a solid quality, and such is the case with this hardside spinner.
Something I love about this suitcase is how durable it is. With a double insulated layer of plastic on a hard, made-for-tough-stuff suitcase, I would trust this suitcase even in the most rugged of vacations.
Expandable suitcase zippers are God’s greatest gift to the travel world, which is actually one of my bones to pick with Béis and Away– they’re not expandable!
The AmazonBasics is expandable with multiple smaller compartment storage available. It also has that very Béis-coded striped design, if you’re interested in fooling family & friends.
7. Carry On Luggage Hardside Roller
I wouldn’t necessarily say this Hardside Roller from Walmart is a dead-ringer for a Béis bag. It definitely has its own vibe and flow.
However, the vibe is vibing, and even if it isn’t a perfect match, it is highly rated for being just as durable, effective, and adorable.
The interior has multiple storage compartments, and the wheels have been designed not only to be extremely lightweight, but also effective spinners that won’t get stuck and tie you up on the way to your rental car.
Also, at a ridiculous price of $30, this bag has a bag lock. The older I get, the more important this has become to me. Even just for peace of mind.
8. Coolife 3 Piece Luggage Set
Bear with me here: I know it *initially* would appear the price of this suitcase is more expensive than an actual Béis bag. But wait! It’s not!
This is a luggage set. You can choose between a six-piece and three-piece luggage set that matches the style, elegance, and effectiveness of a Béis bag at about a quarter of the cost. It even comes with a personal item sized bag that fits perfectly under the airplane seat.
Matching luggage has the same vibe as matching underwear. It just feels right, even if no one else notices. I am obsessed with the idea of trotting through the airport with a matching bag set, just for the drama of it.
9. Lovevook Weekender Bag
The look isn’t an exact match for Béis bags, but the functionality of these travel essentials certainly is. In addition to a quilted large duffle bag, this cheap AF order from Walmart includes a matching toiletry bag.
The bottom of this case features studded stoppers to keep from scuffing, and the adjustable strap allows for a super easy switch between weekender and gym bag. Honestly, so ideal.
The main compartment is spacious with a central zipper, and there is a side shoe compartment for super easy access. Any weekender bag with a bottom compartment or side shelf is a winner to me.
While the quilted texture isn’t necessarily for everyone, I think it’s a super cute customization that stands out amongst a sea of (honestly?) all too similar and de-personalized bags these days.
10. Checkmate Small Pouch
One of the most essential aspects of any Béis makeup/toiletries bag is the water resistance feature. Makeup spills. So does face cream, suntan lotion, face toner, and all the other essentials to stay fresh in the summer.
I need a bag I can literally wash out in the sink in case of emergencies. And that’s exactly what you’ll find with the Checkmate Pouch. Super simple, super cute, and resistant enough you could throw a wet bikini in it.
This bag comes in an adorable checkered print with a couple different color options.
11. Large Floral Quilted Makeup Bag
Design wise, a bit different than the Béis makeup bag. Those tend to be a little more neutral, and thus, a little more boring.
What puts this Amazon Floral Makeup Bag on the map of Béis replicas is its size. It matches the size of some of the larger, more functional Béis toiletry bags that can add more functionality to your trip.
I also love the multiple compartments within the toiletry bag. Mine get pretty insane and disorganized throughout the trip, so it’s refreshing to see a bag that takes my overpacking into account.
12. Pierce Travel Collection
Somehow, even Pottery Barn is cheaper than Béis makeup bags. I find that super shocking, but it’s true! The Pierce Travel bag never ceases to amaze me. It looks like a mini duffle– and I love it.
All the leather on this piece is vegan, and it has a wipeable interior that will make it long lastingT and worth the price point. The detachable long strap is a super fun and unique feature, and allows this bag to be multi-use. Plus, it has three interior pockets, which means you’ll be organized AF.
13. Travelers Club Richmond Hardside
This is a pretty close match to the original Béis hardside roller! The Travelers Club Richmond Hardside has the neutral coloring, the stripes, and the black handle. The only difference is the logo in the middle, which is easy to miss as long as you’re not literally staring at it.
A zippered divider panel and multiple different compartments make this a great piece of luggage for an organized trip. It’s big enough for a 2-4 day trip, and comes with a warranty policy too!
14. Campmoy Gym Bag
Again, say it with me: multi-utility! This bag is technically labeled a gym bag. However, with the bottom shoe compartment, USB charging port, and luggage strap on the back, it is so easily convertible into a carry-on luggage piece or stowaway beneath your seat.
With a sub-twenty dollar price, I don’t think that it gets much better than this. Plus, with a water-resistant material, you don’t need to worry about spills, sweat, or any other type of mishap. This bag is a 4-lifer.
If you’re looking for best designer weekender bags or expensive luggage, this post ain’t for you. This is for the girlies who want to ball on a budget and look good doing it.
The best part about a beautiful piece like the Béi bag is all of the amazing, affordable alternatives that can come out of it. While I would love to own a million Béi bags one day in the future, I am more than happy to purchase a few look-alikes in the meantime.
Whichever bag you end up going with, it’s less about the luggage and more about where you plan to go with that luggage. Suitcases are only as great as the destinations they end up in. Happy travel gear shopping!
