I’ve heard about Colleen Rothschild beauty products for years but finally pulled the trigger on testing them out after I met a girl who had the softest most luscious locks I’ve ever seen. Her secret? The Colleen Rothschild hair mask.
But, was it just genetics? I had to find out, so I bought multiple Colleen Rothschild products (skin and hair) to test out at home over the course of a few months. I’ve spent the past 10 years testing out beauty brands to deliver you honest reviews.
After using these hair and skincare products for a while now, I am confident in bringing you a totally honest Colleen Rothschild review and sharing what products are worth your money and what can be skipped.
Despite Being A Skincare Brand, Colleen Rothschild Excells At Hair Care
Look, when that girl told me her secret hair weapon was the Colleen Rothschild Quench & Shine Restorative Mask, I was surprised. I’ve only known the brand for skincare routines that go viral on TikTok, and cleansing balms that help even those with dry skin like the desert.
I have thick hair that gets dry on the ends easily. I suspect it’s the water in my apartment, I probably need something like the Jolie showerhead to filter it out.
So, I bought the hair mask and first started using it around Christmas and after one use I was hooked. This isn’t your normal hair mask, it’s more like an extreme recovery cream mask that instantly makes my hair softer and more radiant.
And I’ve tried a lot of hair masks, so I was shocked that a skincare company made such a good hair product. If this is their hair mask, what’s their face mask going to be like?!
I started instantly digging into Colleen Rothschild skincare products and swapped out all my Ordinary serums for just Colleen Rothschild so I could really test it. That was 3 months ago, and here’s my favorites.
Top 5 Colleen Rothschild Products for Radiant Skin That Are Worth It
There are a lot of products in the Colleen Rothschild inventory and it can be overwhelming to know where to start. I test (almost) every product out within their skincare line, though I didn’t shop their makeup products.
These are the top 5 skincare products I feel in love with after using for 3 months and the ones I consider worth it in terms of buying.
1. Retinol Supreme Night Oil For Aging
I’ve tested countless brands of retinol while writing this blog, everything from Drunk Elephant to affordable ones like The Ordinary and nothing compares to the Colleen Rothschild Retinol Supreme Night Oil. It’s worth every penny.
I do skin cycling and by far my favorite retinol I’ve ever used is this face oil. Skin cycling involves rotating your serums and exfolitors for maximum results without irritating your skin. My routine looks like this:
- Day 1: Hyaluronic Acid
- Day 2: Niacinamide
- Day 3: Retinol
- Day 4: Rest day
On my retional day, after I remove my makeup, I simply apply the face oil and go to bed. No need for another cream or moisturizer. I noticed a sharp difference on how this retinol worked on my skin for completion and texture. For once, I didn’t have breakouts, and my skin texture was so smooth and healthy looking. How a retinol is supposed to work!
This is something I shop for whenever it starts to run out since I love it so much. It’s a must have for anti-aging concerns, too.
2. Glycolic Acid Peel Pads For Acne Prone Skin
I was skeptical about the Colleen Rothschild Glycolic Acid Peel Pads since I’ve tried other similar pads in the past and never felt like they were with the money.
But then I realized my skin type was just not the target demographic for this product. My husband, sweet baby angel he is, struggles to maintain a constant skincare routine (men, right?) He needs products like pads that are easy to use and move on with his day.
He has very acne-prone skin and I thought “hmm, this might work for him”. Within 5 days of him using the peel pads in the morning and night his decades-long acne started clearing up. It was like magic! They consist of Blue Agave, 10% blend of Glycolic and Lactic Acids which target fine lines and hyperpigmentation, and clear our pores which is exactly what he needs for clear skin and a more even complexion.
They are pricey, but if you struggle with these problems, I think you’ll love these peel pads. They’re safe for sensitive skin, too! While researching my honest Colleen Rothschild Review, this was the product I was more shocked by.
3. Quench & Shine Restorative Mask For Dry Hair
As I raved about above, I think the Quench & Shine hair mask is one of the best products Colleen Rothschild makes. This color-safe conditioning treatment uses Kokum, Shea, Capuacu, Bacuri Butters, Argan and Moringa Oils to hydrate hair, reduce frizz and create a healthy texture.
I use it once a week in place of my conditioner and my hair looks totally different now. A few years ago I also started using sock curls in my nightly routine and was struggle with my hair sometimes being so frizzy afterward. But, once I started using this magic hair mask, let me tell you, I wake up like a whole other person in the mornings. Perfect hair like Barbie!
Plus, at $38 it’s a steal.
4. Clarifying Solution Toner For Sensitive Skin
I have super sensitive skin, and I’ve tried basically every toner out there and while some work ok, others have totally made my skin revolt. But not this toner.
The Clarifying Solution uses salicylic acid to clear out all the gunk from my pores, and chamomile and burdock root to keep my sensitive skin calm. It’s the only toner I’ve found that delivers a clear and even complexion without irritating my skin.
I use it about 2-3 times a week, especially during my period when I’m prone to breakouts, and can notice a difference on my skin texture when I’m using it regularly.
5. Vitamin E Lip Moisturizer For Dry Lips
LISTEN, if I didn’t have sensitive skin I would just slap on a thick layer of Vaseline every night on my lips, but petroleum can sometimes irritate my skin (eczema problems!) I’ve always been on the hunt for an overnight lip mask to hydrate my lips, especially in the winter when they are prone to being chapped and dry.
This lip moisturizer is packed with a powerful blend of naturally hydrating emollients, soothing antioxidants and Shea Butter, which basically means it doesn’t hurt my skin and instead leaves my lips soft and smooth.
Every night in the winter I’ve been using this lip oil and wake up with perfect lips.
Runner-Ups: Skincare Products That Might Be Worth Your Money
These are the Colleen Rothschild products that I tested out and couldn’t put in the top 5 but are still great items you may like depending on your skincare goals and skin type.
- Colleen Rothschild Dual Enzyme Polish: Tiny scrubby bits and fruit enzymes erase dullness. Comfrey and argan oil calm stressed skin. Use when you need to remove that layer of dull, old skin and start again fresh.
- Retinol Supreme Eye Serum: It’s rare to find an eye serum with retinol since the eye are is delicate but this one, after 30 days of daily use, does help reduce fine lines and bags. Didn’t make top 5 since it is a risky product in the sense that not everyone should be using retinol around their eyes.
- Gentle & Clear Purifying Cleanser: I adore my Versed cleanser (it’s cheaper and works so well, especially on acne-prone skin) but I did use this for a week and didn’t have any problems with it. If you need a major detox on your face wash, use this for a month to reset your skin.
Honest Colleen Rothschild Skincare Review After 3 Months Of Use
The verdict of my Colleen Rothschild Review? I promised to be honest: when I see a beauty brand with high-priced products, my initial reaction is “ugh, over priced and for what?” I was surprised to find that Colleen Rothschild is priced high since it works on double time for you.
There are many products from Colleen Rothschild that are totally worth your dollar and I would personally buy again. There’s also some that are great, but can be easily swapped out with lower-priced products that do gain the same results.
But for the skincare and haircare products I featured in my top 5, I think they are very unique and stand out in the beauty market. Colleen Rothschild is an older skincare brand, operating for over 30 years and refining their products the entire way. And it shows.
Next time you see your favorite influencer talk about Colleen Rothschild, you can shop it with confidence since yes, it does work and it works well. You just need to know what product is worth it so you don’t spend all your rent money on a completely new skincare routine.
Colleen Rothschild Products I Wouldn’t Buy Again
Hey, not everything can be a winner. And I want to be clear here when I say that nothing Colleen Rothschild makes is bad. Everything is a top-tier skincare product and make with clean ingredients that are good for your skin.
But, it’s expensive. Not everyone can drop $65 on an eye cream every month, heck I know I can’t. I test out so many beauty products for my readers for a moment like this when I can help guide them to what is actually worth their money, and what they can use that’s far more affordable and gets similar, if not better, results.
Colleen Rothschild Cleansing Balm For Makeup Removal
I’ve read so many radiant cleansing balm reviews raving about the product but I wasn’t jazzed by it. To be fair, I’m not a cleansing balm girl, but for the price point at $65, I’ve used other cleansing balms that are super similar but for a fraction of the price.
The e.l.f. Holy Hydration! Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm, for instance, is just $11 and took my makeup off just as easily as the $65 one from Colleen Rothschild.
I would skip this one.
Sheer Renewal Cream For Hydration
She basic. (You have to say it in that voice, too. You know the one). Look, the Sheer Renewal Cream is fine. It works well. It’s light and hydrating. But its’ $55 for a small tube and products like Cerave or Cetaphil are literally right there for $10.
Clarifying Detox Mask For Problem Skin
I’ll be honest, I almost put this in the “runner up”category since it’s a good mask. But the Detox Mask is $44 and the jar is a little smaller than I would like to see. Instead, I recommend you use Orgins Charcoal Mask which will also detox your inflamed or clogged skin, but only cost your $18.
Colleen Rothschild Complete Eye Cream For Wrinkles
Targeting wrinkles, fine lines, under-eye circles, puffiness and loss of elasticity – yes please! Look, this eye cream is great but when I want to target the fine lines around my eyes, I reach for Kiehl’s Avocado eye cream. I love their eye cream and YES, it’s basically the same price but the difference is, Kiehl’s is often on sale for half off and Colleen Rothschild isn’t.
Is Colleen Rothschild Cruelty Free?
Yes, Colleen Rothischild is cruelty- free. According to their website, “Yes, we have a cruelty-free philosophy. We do not conduct animal testing with our products or ingredients, nor do we ask others to test on our behalf.”
So, you can shop with confidence.
Is Colleen Rothschild good for sensitive skin?
Totally! I’ve got skin that throws a fit at anything, and most of their stuff is super gentle while also being strong at blemish control. But, you know, always patch test just in case. I’m obsessed with their toner and lip balm, though; zero issues.
What are the best Colleen Rothschild products for anti-aging?
Their retinol oil is a game-changer. Just stick with it, you’ll see results in a few months. It’s my favorite overall fine line treatment since it works on your whole face to activate skin cell regeneration.
Where can I buy Colleen Rothschild products?
Their website, colleenrothschild.com, is your best bet for direct shipping and access to their (rare) sales when they happen.
Is Colleen Rothschild worth the price?
Look, it’s not cheap. But honestly? Some of their stuff is worth every penny. That retinol oil? I’d buy it again and again. But, you know, not everything’s a winner. Pick and choose based on your needs, and you’ll be happy.
Finding Your Perfect Match: Colleen Rothschild for Your Skin Type
Okay, so here’s the thing – not every product is gonna be a slam dunk for everyone. As you read, some products worked well for my husband but not for me. We’re all rocking different skin situations, so let’s break down which Colleen Rothschild beauty gems might be your new best friends.
Dry Skin:
If your face feels like the Sahara, you need hydration, STAT. The Vitamin E Lip Moisturizer is a must for your dry lips. The Retinol Supreme Night Oil will also help to keep your skin hydrated while it works its magic for anti-aging. The Extreme Recovery Cream is best for overnight hydration as you sleep.
Normal/Combination Skin:
You’ve got options! The Clarifying Solution Toner balances things out, and the Dual Enzyme Polish keeps your skin smooth. If you are looking for an all over good product, the Retinol Supreme Night Oil will work for you too.
Acne-Prone Skin:
The Glycolic Acid Peel Pads are your secret weapon. They’ll clear out those pores with pore cleansing magic, and help with hyperpigmentation. The Clarifying Solution Toner will also help to keep your skin clear with breakout prevention. But remember, don’t overdo it! Start slow and see how your skin reacts.
Sensitive Skin:
Like me! Tread carefully, but don’t be scared. The Gentle & Clear Purifying Cleanser and Clarifying Solution Toner are gentle giants. Always patch test first, though!
Remember, your skin is unique! What works for me might not work for you, and vice versa. Listen to your skin, and don’t be afraid to experiment. And if you have any serious skin concerns, definitely chat with a derm!
Overall, that’s my stance on this beauty brand. They’re expensive but the products do the work. Unless you are a secret millionaire, I wouldn’t recommend overhauling your entire skincare routine to swap it with Colleen Rothschild skincare, but if you use a curated, carefully selected set of their products, you will see amazing results that are worth every penny.
Now that my 3 month test of them is over, I’m happy that I started in the first place. This brand may be a legacy brand your mom uses, but it’s legit.
