Walking into Allegretto Resort Paso Robles felt like I was whisked away to Italy. The ceiling in the entryway is painted with murals, there are marble statues everywhere, archways leading out to gardens and even a little old-world style church with stain glass windows.
I knew instantly this was going to be an epic hotel expeirence. My girlfriend and I drove down to San Luis Obispo County for a week of wine tasting at epic wineries like Tooth and Nail, kayaking Avila Beach, soaking up the vibes of Sensorio and of course — spending a LOT of time poolside at Allegretto. If you’re looking for the best hotel in Paso Robles, let me show you 7 reasons you’re going to love the Allegretto hotel.

Part of the Ayres Hotel family, Allegretto goes over the top for guests with all the details. Keriugs are in the rooms and fresh coffee in the lobby each morning. There’s a gym and tons of lawn games scattered around the hotel, from boche ball to a giant chessboard that (just like the one we found at the Cameron House in Scotland!)
If that doesn’t convince you enough to book a stay at Allegretto, these are the major highlights:
You Need To Book A Night At Allegretto Vineyard Resort Paso Robles, And Here’s Why
The Hotel Has Tuscan-Inspired, Unique Grounds
I was really surprised by all the little details that went into this hotel to make it feel like Tuscany vs California wine country. My favorite details were all the little hidden things on the grounds. Like the cute little abbey church, which has big wood doors and stain glass windows. Or one of the many marble statues dotted around the property.
Of course, there’s the grand staircase in the courtyard and arched hallways with blue and pink paint. Everything about this hotel oozes charm, I loved it.
Tasty AF Restaurant On-Site
Cello Ristorante is one of the best restaurants in Paso Robles wine country and it just happens to be inside Allegretto. I recommend coming for dinner and asking for a table outside. It faces West, perfect for catching a happy hour sunset! Make sure to consider the special menu of the night, but if that doesn’t catch your eye, the Pappardelle is *chef kiss* mouthwatering.
For drinks, you can wine a great wine menu but personally, after a long day wine tasting, I need to switch to cocktails. I recommend the Up In Smoke, Forbidden Fruit or Cherry Bomb cocktails.
Free Bikes To Borrow
When you arrive you’ll see a rack of cute yellow bikes that are free for guests to borrow! Bike around the hotel neighborhood or take them into Downtown Paso Robles to explore. If biking isn’t your thing but you love to be outdoors, the hotel is across the road from the Montebello Oaks Open Space Trail for hiking and trails!
Rooms With Semi-Private Garden Outdoor Access
Usually, I’m not a fan of ground-level hotel rooms for privacy reasons, but holy moly, I was blown away by how wonderful the garden ground floor rooms are. Our garden patio had a cute little table and was semi-private with tall hedges. You could take the little pathway to a sidewalk which led right into the gardens and to the abbey. I loved being able to quickly pop out our back door in the mornings to stroll around the sound garden with a cup of coffee, and pop right back in. Lovely!
Stoll The Peaceful Sound Garden
On the note of a sound garden, I found it such a peaceful way to wake up. It’s a little maze-like thing in the gardens next to the abbey. There are small speakers around the maze that are triggered when you walk by them to make a sound, very similar to mediation bowl sounds. I loved it.
There Are Cabanas At The Pool
I adore a good pool day! There’s a pool at Allegretto that’s right next to some vineyards, making it feel extra wine country fabulous. Adults will love the pool bar with drinks available and of course, there’s a few cabanas for rent here, too! If you’re planning on spending the whole day at the pool, the cabanas are the way to go since they face South to help you get the best tan, but also offer shade if it gets too hot.
Allegretto Tasting Room Is In The Hotel
Did you know the Allegretto Wine Paso Robles tasting room is inside the hotel?! This makes a great last winery stop of the day so you can roll back to your room or right onto dinner without driving. Make sure to reserve an appointment ahead of time.

I also believe they can do weddings here. I saw a large open space in the gardens (complete with string lights) that looked like it would be where a ceremony or reception would happen. If you’re looking for a unique and cool Paso Robles event space with an event center, check with Allegretto!
PS they also have badminton courts so pack those badminton outfits!
One of my other favorite Paso Robles hotels is the Just Inn hotel at Justin Winery. This inn is a super different vibe than Allegretto Paso Robles — it’s attached to Justin winery, one of the top Paso Robles wineries, and there’s only about 6 rooms in total. You can wake up literally next to the vineyards and stroll around them with morning coffee, it’s a pretty cool vineyard hotel.
Ok Real Talk: What’s Bad About Allegretto?
With every hotel review, I always want to highlight any downsides for you to be aware of. Honestly, there aren’t many. The main downside of booking here, versus one of the other Paso Robles resort hotels is that you still need to drive to get anywhere interesting. It’s not in walking distance to downtown or other wineries.
But… that’s about it. And that’s an easy fix with Ubers, and we found parking in Downtown Paso to be incredibly easy (you even get to park for free on your visit time!)
So, whether you’re coming to Paso on a date weekend or with girlfriends, you’ll love Allegretto. But don’t take my word for it — you can find more Allegretto Vineyard Resort reviews online here.
