We just got back from a few relaxing days at Big Bear Lake California and we stayed at the cutest cabin! I just had to take you guys on a little tour (because you’ll probably want to book it!) We found the home on Airbnb, which is our favorite place to book cute vacation rentals around the world. Alright, let’s go!
Take A Peek Inside Our Retro Big Bear Cabin (It Has A Hot Tub!)
Book this cute Big Bear Cabin here!
Robin and I decided on a whim to take a Big Bear vacation to kick back and relax in nature. Neither of us have been to the San Bernardino Mountains before and I’ve always been told Big Bear is like Lake Tahoe of Southern California, so I was eager to check it out. And, since I’m a basic fall betch, I was pumped to see some fall foliage!
While there are a lot of Big Bear cabins, there aren’t many Big Bear lakefront rentals. That’s ok! I found a retreat in the woods at the Ultimate Big Bear Cabin with a front-row view to trees and it was PERFECT.
The cabin is a one bedroom house with a huge back porch (with a hot tub!) which we spent a lot of time lounging on. We live in San Francisco so soaking up tree time and fresh air was heavenly. The neighborhood is really peaceful and private, yet just a short drive to all the things we wanted to see.
I think it’s the perfect vacation rental for couples, just enough space. There is a pull-out couch for additional sleepers but I think it would be a bit tight if you squeezed 4 guests into cabin.
That being said if you are visiting in the summer months and plan to spend a LOT of time out on the lake or trails, the extra space via the back patio would probably ease any space problems.
Also, if you’re looking at Big Bear Moonridge cabin rentals, book this one! It’s just a few blocks off Moonridge and a 5-minute walk to places like Dank Donuts and Moonridge Cafe. It’s also a really short drive to Big Bear Mountain and Snow Summit if you are visiting in the winter and hoping to hit the slopes!

The only thing that I think this cabin needs improvements on is the bathroom. I did want to mention that the shower is a bit janky and the bathroom it just doesn’t carry the same whimsy as the rest of the cabin. I got the impression that perhaps it hasn’t been fully renovated/completed yet. But, everything else about this cabin outweighs a mediocre bathroom.
The cabin isn’t pet friendly BUT there are a few neighborhood cats who will probably visit you on the back patio so you can get your animal fix that way. If you really need a dog-friendly Big Bear cabin, this one allows pets!
I hope this helps you feel inspired to rent a Big Bear cabin for a fantastic mountain vacation! We would totally stay here again. I loved Big Bear in the fall – it’s empty and the weather is perfect. That being said I’m eager to come back again in the future during the summer so I can try out a lot of fun lake activities.
Until then…
