Who else has been seeing people flaunt cute lil vitamin daily packs (complete with their name) on Instagram for ages? I finally decided it was time to pull the trigger and try Care/of Vitamins.
But – I’m left with the question: are these vitamins worth it? Or just really fun to show off on social?
Diving deep into these personalized vitamins is up next on my Saw It On Social Series where I try out all those Instagram-famous products and give you no-bullshit reviews on if you actually need it (or if it just looks cool on the ‘gram.) Keep reading for everything you need to know about Care/of Vitamins + my honest review on if you should buy it or not

I’ve been taking vitamins daily for years. I normally take this multivitamin from Target and YES that’s a prenatal vitamin. Nope, my IUD is snug in place and I’m not trying to get pregnant, it’s just the cheapest daily vitamin that has the most iron (which I’m always low on.)
I’ve never been keen on dropping mad $$ on a vitamin, but after serving the shit year that was 2020, I’ve absolutely been left feeling gross more days than not. Hey – maybe a boost of supplements tailored to my needs is just what my life needs?
First, I Took The Care/of Vitamins Quiz
Unlike Ritual vitamins, Care/of requires you to take a pretty lengthy quiz to get to know you, your body, your daily habits and even where you live to help determine if you may be low on a certain nutrient due to your climate. I live in foggy San Francisco and after taking the quiz, it told me I was probably low on Vitamin D (something you get naturally from sunshine) so I was pretty impressed with the accuracy there.
I was also shocked and happy to see Non-Binary as an option on the quiz. How inclusive and progress!! *snaps for Care/of* The quiz takes about 10 minutes to complete and afterward the system suggests your personalized vitamin pills pack along with some other supplements and products you may be interested in to help you reach your health goals.
This Is What I Tried & Think of Each Care/of Product
In the name of research, I bought all the supplements Care/of suggested to me:
30 Day Supply of Vitamin Packs
My recommended vitamin pack contained:
- probiotic blend: for digestive support
- Vitamin D: for bone support
- B-complex: for energy, digestive support and brain function
- Rhodiola: for stress management.
You don’t get one multivitamin packed with everything under the sun but instead 4 separate pills. I have no issues swallowing pills but I know some people do, so that’s something to keep in mind if you are ordering from Care/of (you’ll have multiple pills each day.)
Each pack is labeled with my name and a different quote, fact or action idea for the day which is always fun to read. The packs come in a colorful box that fits nicely on our bathroom shelf to easy access. And the packs are compostable, which as you know we’re big compost nerds over here, so that was a nice bonus, too.
My only complaint about this pack is that I already take ashwagandha daily, which is a natural herbal supplement that helps with stress management. So I’m not sure I really needed Rhodiola in my pack. I think if I order again I can just skip that pill / take it out of my pack and actually save some money, too. Or, perhaps I could swap in iron instead since that’s why I started taking daily vitamins in the first place.
Extra Batteries Quick Sticks
These quick sticks come in a pack of 5 and dissolve on your tongue without water. I’ve only used them twice since getting them but they work a lot like an energy shot but without the icky tummy feeling or jitters. A friend told me she swears by these quick sticks for jetlag after traveling which LOL, I’m writing this in 2020 so who knows when I’ll get to try that out, but I see where she is coming from.
I think they would be a godsend after a long haul flight. They also offer other Quick Sticks for sleep and stress relief.
Electrolytes Packs
You mix these little packs in with water when you feel like you’re down on electrolytes. Usually, I take Nuun tabs on really long hikes but I was intrigued by these as my quiz told me to try them after a day of drinking… which, as you know from my cocktail recipe section, I love to do. And holy moly, these are amazing for hangovers! I need these around the house at all points in time moving forward.
Vanilla Collagen Powder
My nails are always brittle and slow to grow if I don’t take collagen so the quiz suggested I get a tub of their collagen powder to mix in with my morning coffee. It takes really really good and acts almost like a creamer. But it doesn’t dissolve as nicely as some other collegn powders I’ve tried (I’ve been using collagen for years now!)
I do feel like my nails were growing a bit faster when I take this, but not as nearly fast as when I use a different brand like Dose & Co (my nails grow super fast when I take this!) So, I won’t be reordering this, but I do still love it in my morning coffee it’s not a total fail.

So – Is Care/of Vitamins Worth It?
Yes and no. There are some products I really love from Care/of and 100% will be ordering again (like the electrolytes and quick sticks, along with the special mushrooms.) But the college powder is a miss for me, so I’ll be sticking to other brands on that.
When it comes to the vitamin packs, I don’t think they are worth it if you are using Care/of JUST for letter vitamins or minerals (ie magnesium, vitamin c, etc.) To be frank, the vitamin industry as a whole is a bit of a scam. Most people get all the nutrients they need from their foods and just pee out excuse vitamins that they take daily. I don’t mind spending $15 a year on something that may only be marginally benefiting me, but $300+ a year is quite a lot just for 4 letter vitamins (vs the 20+ you get in a multivitamin pill for a fraction of the cost.
In case you haven’t been looking at prices Care/of is very expensive compared to an over-the-counter multi-vitamin. Since Care/of packs are tailored to you, each pack price will vary a bit depending on what you get, but for most people, it’ll be about $20 per month not including taxes or shipping. That brings the price of a daily multi-vitamin around 85 cents a day vs 5 cents a day when compared to the bottle of vitamins I buy from Target is $10 for a bottle of 200 pills.
That being said – I see the real value and allure of Care/of in their herbal and specialty supplement offerings. Where else can you bundle things like Adaptogenic Mushrooms, Astaxanthin or Shatavari all in one place? I don’t think I would be reordering a standard vitamin pack in the future, but I am 100% keen on trying out some of these Eastern Medicine herbs since I’ve never tried them before (or even heard of them – I’m so curious!)
- If you’re curious about traditional Eastern herbal medicine
- You want additional products beyond vitamins
- You have a large budget for vitamins
- You just want a multi-vitamin
- You don’t have a large budget for vitamins
2022 UPDATE On Care/Of
I’ve been using Care/Of for about 2 years now and here’s how I am using this subscription service. After the panny, I’ve been really into holistic health. Robin and I have been trying out various herbal supplements to treat stress, chronic pain, heart health, memory, etc.
We’re loving Care/Of as a company to source special plant based things like Ashwagandha, Gingseng, Ashwagandha, Elderberry and Adaptogenic Mushrooms. People don’t realize that these herbs and mushrooms have been used for thousands of years to heal the human body. We’ve been trying out various brands for these special herbs and have found Care/Of to be a great price point compared to other herbal medicine brands (we also love Gaia for lions mane!)
Paired with modern medicine, we both feel awesome when we take Care/Of packs daily. I now even travel with them. from New York To Copenhagen, these packs are firmly part of my daily routine. So, basically, I’m reiterating: get Care/Of, but only for the special herbs. I still think an unbranded multivitamin is best to get table letter minerals.
Care/Of vs Ritual Vitamins (Which Is Better?)
Speaking of Ritual vs Care/of, which is better? I was curious about that, too. I know there are a few other vitamin brands out there that give personalized recommendations but think Ritual and Care/Of are the two top contenders. So much so, I ordered from both and tried them both out. Head over to my Ritual Review to read all my hot takes on this brand (and – spoiler alert – why you probably shouldn’t buy it.)
When it comes to the two, I say buy Care/of, hands down. It’s at least personalized to your needs, ships fast, has other product offerings that are unique and high quality, and their branding is cute AF. It can also be cheaper than Ritual depending on what vitamins or herbs you end up with.
Lastly, I haven’t had a reason to interact with customer service yet, but if I do, I’ll update this post with how that went. If you had to chat with Care/of’s the customer support team, I’d be appreciative if you could leave a comment below so everyone can see it!
I hope my Care of review helps you decide if these vitamins are for you! If you’re tried them, I’d love to hear your thoughts (I’m only one person!) so please leave a comment below. If you have questions, drop a comment or DM me on Instagram @thewhimsysoul and I’ll try to help.
